Schitts Creek Pain GIF by CBC

Two things:

First: DK's appearance is that of a guy that grows up to be a future NFL QB. Has anybody looked more like a QB in the history of QBs?

Second: He looks like the actor that plays the QB in the HBO series Euphoria.

Kewan Lacy commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?

Nebraska goes into Texas to add a running back commit for the class of 2024. After visiting Lincoln this weekend, Lancaster (Texas) running back Kewan Lacy has officially committed to the Huskers.

Here are some quick takes on the commitment of Lacy and what it means for Nebraska.

With Lacy’s commitment, NU is now up to 18 commitments and six from the state of Texas.

1. Nebraska’s running back board remained somewhat of an unknown until this weekend. The Huskers locked up a commitment from Lacy, giving them a top-level back in the class as we head into the dead period.

2. Lacy also took official visits to Baylor (June 9) and Arizona State (Apr. 29). He was in Lincoln this past weekend for his third official visit. He held Power Five offers from NU, Baylor, ASU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Miami, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas A&M, TCU, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Cincinnati, Michigan State, California, Boston College, Utah, Houston and Indiana.

3. As a junior, Lacy was limited by different injuries. That affected his recruiting process and some of the bigger offers he picked up early on. As a sophomore at Nolan Catholic in Fort Worth, he ran for around 1,400 yards before transferring to Lancaster as a junior.

4. If people haven’t heard much about Lancaster High School, which is south of Dallas, they should get familiar. Wide receiver Omar Manning committed to Nebraska from Tyler Junior College but graduated high school at Lancaster. Lacy and four-star cornerback Corian Gipson hold offers for Nebraska for the 2024 class. Nebraska has also offered wide receiver Emmanuel Choice in the 2025 class. Choice was supposed to visit Lincoln this weekend with Lacy.

5. Lacy missed a few games as a junior and had to play several more games dinged up. Still, Lacy played a critical role in helping Lancaster to a 9-3 overall record and the second round of the 5A D1 UIL State Playoffs (the state’s second-largest classification).

6. NU’s push in the state of Texas continues under Rhule. The Huskers signed six high school recruits and brought in one transfer in the class of 2023. With the addition of Lacy, the Big Red already has six players committed from Texas in the class of 2024.

7. Lacy, like many recruits under Rhule, also has verified track speed. He ran 10.79 seconds in the 100-meter dash as a junior.

Rex Guthrie commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?

Littleton (Colo.) Heritage safety Rex Guthrie is commitment No. 19 for Nebraska.

Nebraska added another defensive back commit to its 2024 recruiting class. Littleton (Colo.) Heritage strong safety Rex Guthrie officially announced his commitment to the Huskers after his official visit in Lincoln.

Here are some quick takes on the commitment of Guthrie and what it means for Nebraska.

The commitment of Guthrie now gives the Big Red seven defensive back recruits in the class of 2024 and two recruits from the state of Colorado.

1. Nebraska’s camp evaluations once again played a big factor in the recruiting of Guthrie. He’s now the seventh camp workout that turned into a Husker offer that became a commitment. Will this formula continue to play out in years to come with camp workouts?

2. Speaking of the Husker camp, here’s more on the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Guthrie: He ran 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash, jumped 10-4 in the broad jump, and 4.14 seconds in the pro-agility. Numbers like that are going to get anyone’s attention.

3. Guthrie also has verified track speed. He ran 11.0 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22.5 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

4. When you look at Guthrie, he’s more than a workout warrior. As a junior, he had 117 tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass break-ups. It’s hard to figure out why it took so long for his recruiting to pick up, as Guthrie put up big-time numbers on the field along with his verified speed/testing numbers.

5. When you look at the long-term position fit for Guthrie in Tony White’s defense, he told HuskerOnline that rover is where the NU staff sees him fitting the best. He’s a cross between a safety and a linebacker who can play in the box as a run-stopper. The Husker staff loves the intensity level he plays with on film.

6. Guthrie is now the third recruit Matt Rhule’s coaching staff has landed from the state of Colorado over the last seven months. The Huskers now have two 2024 commits in Guthrie and OL Landen Davidson. They also signed defensive back D’Andre Barnes out of Regis Jesuit in Aurora in the class of 2023.

Before landing Barnes in 2023, the Huskers’ signed just three recruits from Colorado from 2017 to 2022 (OL Michael Lynn, QB Luke McCaffrey and DE Tate Wildeman). They signed nine out of Colorado from 2009 to 2016, including future pros WR Kenny Bell (2010), OL Jeremiah Sirles(2009), LB JoJo Domann (2016) and TE Jack Stoll (2016).

7. Guthrie now becomes the seventh defensive back to join the 2024 recruiting class. They signed five high school DB recruits and added one transfer in the secondary in 2023. In the 3-3-5 defense, 45 percent of the players on the field fit the DB tab. The question now is, are the Huskers full at the DB position?
