Sign Up Now!Nothing stopping them except for Federal Law:Had this convo with a coworker - He was saying that college should be much more careful about encroaching on "High School" night. Nothing is stopping the NFL from saying "Maybe having 3 time slots on a Saturday would be nice to expand our TV presence" and college has already set the precedent that they don't give a fuck about day of the week.
Hadn't had that convo in a while, and hadn't thought of the NFL spin...
Thanks, Nerd.Nothing stopping them except for Federal Law:
The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 dictates that broadcasting rights of pro sports leagues are exempt from antitrust decisions — but it also contains language that says the NFL cannot broadcast games on Fridays and Saturdays. NFL games are blacked out locally on Fridays and Saturdays, thus essentially prohibiting the play (and broadcasting) of the games.
That means Saturdays, which is when college football games are played, is a no-go for the NFL until the college season wraps up. The same can be said on Fridays and the high-school season.
With the college season ending in November, that opens the door for the NFL to play games on Saturdays

I have a different take.Oh I can actually help with this.
You see on Sundays it's Nebraska defense against Nebraska offense. That's a scenario where the Nebraska defense can have some success.
On Saturdays it's Nebraska defense against an actual real offense, not whatever the hell we field and call an offense.
Hope that helps MJ.
No, The NFL bargained away your opportunity to watch pro football on Saturday in exchange for an exemption from anti-trust law.The government telling me when I can watch football?

No - the language presented was "NFL Games are blacked out Fridays and Saturdays...until the College Football Season wraps up." Incorrect. There will be an NFL game played prior to the conclusion of the NCAA Football Seasonwe were talking about college football season Saturdays in the exchange.
You're an ineffectual attorney.
