This week has a bit of an apocalyptic feel to it with the urgency in the comments by Rhule and the coordinators. If this Illinois game doesn't go well, I wouldn't be surprised to see a significant playing time shift for guys 10/21 in Lincoln.

Had this convo with a coworker - He was saying that college should be much more careful about encroaching on "High School" night. Nothing is stopping the NFL from saying "Maybe having 3 time slots on a Saturday would be nice to expand our TV presence" and college has already set the precedent that they don't give a fuck about day of the week.
Hadn't had that convo in a while, and hadn't thought of the NFL spin...

Absolutely. I'd be optimistic we could get 3/4 and 1 of the last 3 or 4/4 and get to a bowl game. That was the optimistic goal for the year.

Honestly, gives me a good excuse to pound brews and sit on the couch after work so I don’t mind it.

Fox CBS & ESPN probably don’t want to start eating into their own numbers. Poor Thursday night football numbers already had ppl talking about how the nfl is oversaturated in the past. I think they’ll avoid doing that unless some streamer like apple throws a ton of money at em but I think they’d go Friday so they can try & get a national audience & they’d be kinda fucked on getting that on Saturdays.

You can blame Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Rutgers, Indiana and Purdue. Those programs wanted Friday night HOME games because it could guarantee them 1 to 2 night games per season. The rest of the Big Ten said, "Fuck no."
However, Nebraska isnt completely innocent in stupid decisions. Eichorst and then Moose both supported Big Ten openers, home or away.
Teams like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Cockeye voted no. And those teams get to enjoy 3 terrible Non Con home games to open nearly every season.
If Nebraska opens with Eastern Michigan, NIU, and La Tech this season, it wouldn't have stopped them from getting curb stomped by Michigan, but sure as hell would make things a lot easier on a young rebuilding team trying to navigate development with a new staff.
