I'd also have to push back on this point as well. I think it's a convenient excuse and not something based off any comparison with prior hires at UNL or other major universities.Took so long to find someone it pissed our AD off and he left
But your overall point (as I see it): "Don't make contractual obligations when you don't have your leadership in place" I think is a wise practice.
