Yeah. Not sure what we possibly need on the NIL side that couldn’t be provided via Opendorse. Unless there are permissions on the University side that can be bypassed if we have an employee dedicated to NIL from the university.
Just like with any business, you need actual smart people in house to implement the things that consultants recommend. You also want people dedicated to continuously improving the NIL program at Nebraska, whereas Opendorse will be working primarily on selling and executing their playbook for any school with a budget.
None of this is to say that GL is the right guy for the job. He has a business background which may help some, but if the reports of him being hated by players are true then it’s weird to put him in a role to try and help them earn money.
All very true and agreeable. I’m sure if he has been reassigned that there will be pros and cons to him being the guy.
Everything else aside, I didn’t know that there was a human by the name of GL that existed until like November of 2020. Wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a lineup. Couldn’t describe his job in any detail at all. Also not sure that he has as much control over what gets out that has been alleged. I know where a lot of stuff from 24/7 comes from and it’s not GL and he’s got nothing to do with manipulating how it’s reported.
