Nebraska DL transfer Gabe Moore discusses why he chose the Huskers
Mississippi State defensive line transfer
Gabe Moore loved what he saw on his official visit to
Nebraska. The Huskers have several open chairs in the defensive line room after the 2024 season, and Moore will be allowed to show how versatile he is on next year’s team.
“I loved the vibe everybody gave to me while on my visit,” Moore said. “It’s a welcoming with arms wide open thing. Also, it doesn’t get any better than a coaching staff who keeps everything straight-forward on what their plan is for me and what they expect from me. I couldn’t ask for a better relationship.”
There were some unexpected home vibes for Moore in Lincoln that he experienced while visiting Nebraska. Moore also likes the high standard of defensive line play from previous Huskers.
“Nebraska stood out to me with its scenery, which brought me back at-home vibes. Also, the greats before me left behind a high-quality expectation that makes the place just even more special.
Moore is 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds, and Nebraska can see him playing more of a base end on their defensive line and sliding down to the inside shade of the offensive tackle. The Huskers are going to allow him to show what he can do along the defensive line.
“They see me playing all over the line scrimmage,” Moore said. “Nebraska said they could use me from playing a five-technique through a shade inside of the offensive tackle. They are giving me an opportunity to show how versatile my game is.”
Nebraska needs to add a lot of bodies into the defensive line room, and Moore could be able to challenge for a starting spot and provide some depth to the room. The Huskers lost
Nash Hutmacher,
Ty Robinson,
Jimari Butler,
MJ Sherman,
Kai Wallin, and
James Williams from the 2024 season.
Moore will have four years of eligibility remaining after sitting out this past year for the Bulldogs.
