Fall camp thread 2024

Which is why I made the point that HH missed wide open receivers a lot last year. Even if the coverage is favorable, I don’t believe HH is reliable enough to make that throw, or even find the open receiver. I’d rather live and die on the arm of Raiola.
It all depends if our line can manufacture a competent running game inside the redzone and if our backs are capable. I’ve been a HH hater more than most, but he could fulfill a role running some qb power down inside the 5 yard line depending on the circumstances.

Is this for certain?
That is where it stands today (that is what is in the final House v NCAA settlement proposal). I'd say it's certain nothing happens this year

I hope for the athletes sake there’s some kind of grace period. Not saying they need a 4 year transition, but a 1 year transition puts a lot of kids out and creates a ton of unnecessary chaos.

There’s no transition - it just goes to 105 at the beginning of the 2025 season. Everyone will need to adjust their plans over the next 12 months.

I think they’ll get pushback/lawsuits if they provide no transition to a new limit considering they created an environment (no roster limits and no scholarship limits this year, correct?) that incentivized teams carry 1.5x that amount.

There is still a scholarship limit of 85. There may be lawsuits but most D1 schools do not carry anywhere near the number we carry.

I wonder if we start seeing some attrition after fall camp.

If we can, we should start moving a few along at a time - after fall camp, after the season, after spring ball, than after fall camp again for instance, then trying to move on all the players needed over next spring and summer.

If we are at 151, we need to lose the 46 players plus however many more to make room for the 2025 recruiting class in time for next season.

Rhule has already questioned if the players that are out for the season will count towards the 105 or not too.
