I bought a Pioneer Sx727 receiver at an antique store in 2014 for 80 bucks fully reconditioned. Built in 1972, older than me, completely pristine, doesn't have a mark on it, has a solid Walnut case and flat out pumps. It may be my favorite purchase ever.

These go for $400 or $500 now.

Least per use: bamboo shirts & hoodies. I wear those things all the time.

Most per use: maybe a gun... I shoot it occasionally, but not a ton. Plus the cost goes up every time I do.

Bonus item: sticks. They literally fall from the sky, and the kids play with them all the freaking time.

Wife has a peloton in the basement. Has used it maybe 3 times since our daughter was born. She turns 2 on Wednesday

Mine has bought a mini-elliptical, a mini-stepper, a weird climber machine, and a weird something machine in the past year. She's used all of them a max of three hours total so far, but I think the total cost for the machines was around $600.

Also, we already had a treadmill and a bowflex for the last decade-plus. Neither have been used for years.

RVs and boats have to be the worst.

We had a 5th wheel in Moab and my wife used it almost everyday for a year and a half though. We weren't able to find a place for her to live when she was working there.

We were lucky and able to sell it for a little more than we paid for it because the manager that took over for her couldn't find a place to live either. So it ended up being a win-win in the end.

Moab... would love to live there. One of my favorite places. Love southern Utah. Canyonlands type of terrain is my favorite.

Campers are almost always at the top for waste of $. I have never bought one. We got a 30 yr old camper free from my wife's father about 3 years ago... never been used, but then it needs a little work and some $, which I don't want to spend either to use it. If I am going camping, it is going to be in a tent. And hiking at least 5 miles (usually 10 or more) up in to the mountains to do so. Never considered camper "camping" actually camping. Sounds like you got your $ worth and came out well, though! Not the usual story with camper purchases.

Pretty much anything my wife buys is on my list. Women can waste $ like no other. She makes 35K a year. So where the extra $ comes from to buy all this shit she buys... well, you know.

I usually use the shit out of stuff I buy. I think hot tubs are often a bad value for people, though. I have had 2 hot tubs in my life. First one was a used 110 plug hot tub I bought for a hundred bucks about 12 years ago - it actually worked damn well for a 110 unit - and was full sized, not some small thing. I used it for about 4 years before it died to the point that it wasn't worth to fix (which I had replaced the heating element once already). Then about 3 or 4 years ago, I bought a slighted used Hot Springs hot tub, a 9K hot tub only a couple years old, for $1500. It was nice. But we were gone for a week in January that year, and our power goes out at our house in MT often in the winter (we live in the mountains and are on a pretty rural power line setup which goes down often in the winter), little did we know the power went out during a 5 day sub-zero stint. Froze the hot tub solid since we had no power and it didn't get above zero for days, of course creating a bunch of leaks since it froze and it sits outside. I have yet to fix it, probably never will.

I have had a full home gym for years. Some of the stuff I picked up dirt cheap (or even free for some items) used. Or not even used, a couple items never unboxed. I also bought some good value stuff online. I would much rather work out at home - and it is pretty much a full gym although one does need to supplement some, like I don't have (or want) a hip sled for instance, but I do have a smith machine as an example - but it is 1000% better to be able to do it at home than go to a gym. Hell, we barely even have a gym here now, the main local gym shut down out of the blue a year ago - just closed up overnight one night with zero warning to customers - the owner was into some shady stuff and had to shut down about 4 gyms here in MT he owned. But for the money I spent on my home gym stuff, absolutely over the years a great value.

I have never owned a boat. I am on my 2nd 15' white water raft - first one bought about 20 years ago, and it needed replacing, but was used many, many times. Bought a new one last May, took it on an amazing 6 day back country float trip on the Smith river here in MT in late May last year. Haven't used it since, though. Need to work on that this summer. Rafting is one of my favorite things I do here.

Her childhood bike has been stored in the shed since we got married 5 years ago. I keep asking to part ways with it during county cleanup days twice a year but I get a sharp no each time saying it’ll get used. Hoping once the kiddo is old enough to ride a bike is when that’ll become reality
