House settlement news

TL;DR - can chit schools like Tx Tech still bag players up or will they now have to come in line and compete with things aside from cash money?

Just like the SEC, they'll do whatever they want and force the NCAA to stop them.

I think a lot of the stuff I have seen on twitter, etc, interpreting when the new NIl rules apply is wrong. There seem to a belief that paying out money before the effective date avoids the new rules. The guidance says all NIL deals as of the effective date need to be submitted. To me, that means when the money was paid isn't all that relevant. If, for example, the athlete is required to perform services after the effective date, the agreement would be covered even if the money had been paid out already (i.e., upfront).

It will be interested to see what the NCAA does about aggressive schools who chose to roll the dice. I don't think they can let those people be advantaged and still be able to make this work.

Nebraska appears to have been conservative (with a small class, not paying too much, and waiting to see what happened this fall). If a lot of pre-June 7 deals fall apart, we could be rewarded by being able to go after newly available players.
