I think it's the opposite actually. Alvarez hired guys that he could puppet as AD and who would listen to him. Wisconsin's success had very little to do with him IMO. Now that Barry is out, I think Chryst's true colors were showing...and it isn't pretty.

I don’t think Wisconsin is a better job. They just fired a guy with a 60-20somethings record & did it at the first opportunity so he couldn’t climb out of the hole. Any coach that goes there likely has to run Wisconsin’s scheme & I don’t buy they will change that now that Alvarez is no longer AD. Gary Anderson bailed for Oregon State & Fat Bret bailed cuz they wouldn’t/couldn’t invest the money.
They will hire a very specific coach who is a fit for them.

I’m pretty confident it’s Leonhard, especially reading Wisky fans talk about Chryst possibly refusing retirement option so maybe a case of the Bob Stoops/Lincoln Riley option & they don’t want to lose him

That sounds like Leonhard is getting the interim tag dropped and they were nervous that with all the jobs coming open, he'd leave.
