CFB Expansion Talk

Greg Fluguar:

BTM

“Big Ten has been proactive. They have support of Media partner in FOX Sports in looking at National Conference option with different regional alignments for Pods. Will shuffle through larger options first. Preliminary direct talks with some PAC schools were done weeks ago”

Idk why but that just sounds fuckin terrible to me. All that football Liberalism is right down Kevin Warren’s alley too. How in the fuck does that geographically work? Big 10 Really West?
It would be national conference. Geography doesn’t matter anymore. You’d probably have to add 6 teams and do pods.

If I were USC or Oregon, I’d want out of the PAC. They’re going to get left behind the other power schools. Big 10 and SEC will be making $50+ million a year, while Oregon is making what, $35? It’s an arms race now.

@Kaladin But... but @LoudHogRider told me Warren isn't doing a damn thing! 😲
Ohio State insider says Oregon, USC, UCLA, and Colorado have spoken to Big 10 about leaving Pac 12
🤔 🤷‍♂️ At best, he's reacting - not charting the course or dictating terms on an evolving landscape in CFB. I haven't seen much out of the man in his first year at the helm of the B1G that inspires confidence that "he's our guy to guide us through these choppy waters". If he's leading, he's doing it quietly. Very, very quietly.

I think a strategic alliance with the Pac 12 makes more sense than dissolving another conference. But if we're going to blow up all the conferences, is now the time to create the super-conference and just be done with the current NCAA structure? I'm not sure that's going to win the support of the University administration/academic side of the house. In our case, I suspect they'd be loathe and reluctant to walk away from the billions in CIC research money flowing through the B1G.

Edited to add: I made these comments prior to seeing the Tweets Toe posted from Greg Flugaur. Crazy stuff. If Greg is dialed in and these reports are accurate, I'll gladly acquire a bottle of G. Hughes sugar free BBQ sauce to choke down the crow I'm prepared to eat regarding my opinions on Kevin Warren's leadership on this matter.

Interesting. It forces ND to finally, formally join a conference and somewhat evenly distributes the remaining B12 team. I'm struggling to see the bow tie crew that runs the PAC12 embrace K-State's academic credentials, but they need to do something or risk getting left completely behind. Their geography binds them together and limits them at the same time.

Meh, K-State is about on par with Oregon State and Washington State. It maybe doesn't raise the academic profile of the conference, but I doubt it would be that big of a deal.

You heard of air travel?
Yes lol. I understand it's for the money and it'll probably happen but it still sounds dumb. "Here you have the Big 10 schools, Midwest Conference mainly, Rutgers and Maryland got tossed in there. Oh yeah and then you also have to go out West to the very border of the country for the other Big Ten Schools in California. I know they're not even close but they make big time money so why not?" Sounds dumb

So if the pods is the future & we add six teams.
Pod 1-Washington, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Colorado
Pod 2-Nebraska, Kansas, Cockeye, then a combination of Minny, Illinois, NW

We’d have 2 other Pods, I won’t try & guess at but that sounds like it can compete with SEC more so than just adding Kansas/ISU

Feels like a lot of people are too young to remember 2010 & 2011

get off my lawn
I was a Jr. and Sr. in high school. Paid attention on Saturdays, but nothing offseason wise. If Texas is showing their true colors right now, I can understand why we left and why we wouldn't go back. Still love the Big 12 and always will, but I get it now.

I just looked at the USA Today 2021 rankings. You're correct. Oregon State checking in ahead of KSU, but Washington State is actually lower.

I was a sophomore in college

But I wasn’t referring to you wanting the big 8 back (because when a Nebraska fans pines for the big 12 they actually mean the big 8)

I was referring to people thinking the Big 10 is gonna add schools in LA or the Pac12 is gonna at Cockeye State. Jesus Christ people put the bath salts down, these same insane theories happened last time and none of them turned out remotely accurate.

literally same exact thing as last time where nobodies on Twitter say the most outrageous things possible while tagging or hash-tagging every school in every conference in an attempt to gain viral traction and get RTs/Likes and Followers

100% frivolous
