Bourbon/spirit trade and info sharing thread

A lot of this stuff was acquired through the bourbon thread on rivals mainboard or the Nebraska bourbon society FB group discord. Way over paid for the blantons on top which are my wedding anniversary and kid’s bdays. Do not zoom in on the dates if you don’t want your head to explode at how those dates are even possible.

I’d be down to share some of this stuff with some blind tastings with some tpb people. No one that I’m friends with IRL drink bourbon. I live in Bennington.


To answer @GAHusker, it’s crazy how different states get things that are allocated in others. For example weller SR is all over KS but allocated in Nebraska.

Risked it all by clicking on your photo attachments, glad it was not pron. I just bought the Smoke Wagon uncut, see yours isn’t open yet either. Have you tried it before or did you buy it in part for the esthetics of the bottle like myself?

I’ve have a few and the uncut/unfiltered are very good. I also like anything high proof. The uncut the younger is also pretty good at a cheaper price point, not aged as long. Before they distributed to Nebraska I ordered a couple from the distillery and they just happened to be bottles on my youngest’s date of birth so I’ll probably save them.

Good Lawd almighty! Went to a bottle share at my liquor store tonight (which ai normally can’t do on Thursday because of bocce league) and got to sample.. OF SB Rye, Michter’s 10 year SB Rye, EH Taylor Rye, KY Owl Batch 12, Willett 8 (purple top), OF 117 High Angel’s Share… and that was just a handful… ALSO, I won a JD 12 year in a raffle!

I am a sucker for OF, so I really liked the High Angel’s Share. That Michter’s was awesome, though, and probably my favorite. The Willett wasn’t as big a hit for me as it was the other guys there. Most all of them were good. There was an Old St Nick’s too, but I got too distracted because I’m an idiot and didn’t try it

Was able to add the batch 2 of wolves/willett and got another 10 year rye WFE

@HuskerGarrett there is a photo issue on the board. When I preview this post the image is removed and it just says file name .jpeg. I’ve noticed this on a few of my posts and even seen it with others. The image below is a screen grab of the first image that was pasted back in. Inserting an image doesn’t seem to work.

Our local bar owner is a bourbon snob lol he has a couple of expensive bottles he hides away that only he sells a glass of here or there (employees aren’t allowed to sell them). Found this out after we were in there for supper one evening and we were the only ones there and he brought out a couple glasses for my dad and I of Calmut 15 year and this Redbreast 15 year Irish Whiskey. Both were outstanding but the redbreast was awesome. Never was big fan of Irish whiskey until this one. I saw them both at Wall to wall wine in Lincoln both were about $140. I picked up a bottle of the calmut to have on hand for special occasions and I’m thinking I may go back and get the redbreast next time I’m in Lincoln. If you folks get a chance to try either one you won’t be disappointed.

Got to try the Penelope Rio (new, 3rd iteration) tonight, along with some OF 1924 (have a bottle, but it always tastes better when someone else paid for it), and Green River SB.
