Sweet wheat and full proof are both solid for 1792

Depends how much you have to overpay and how shitty the store pick is.
Single Barrel 1792s are incredibly hit and miss.. 2 of my 3 are misses. BiB is a very solid bottle that I have seen for $40, and also seen for $100… really trying to get my hands on an Aged 12 Years, but haven’t run across one in my area.
Recently got a New Riff 8 year, Art of the Spirits 9 year Double Oak, and another Makers Heart Release that I couldn’t pass at the price.

Are you ever sober?

7am to 4pm daily during the week.
And when I hunt.
Truthfully, it takes me forever to go through a bottle because I like to try all of them. So I have about 150-160 bottles right now with about 95% opened with 1 or 2 pours from them.
I saw my first EH Taylor last weekend, but I was with the old ball and chain, so it was a no-go (it was like $120).

Yea, don’t pay that if it is a Small Batch.
I didn’t even bother looking at what it was. They also had a Weller Single Barrel for 1k. lol.

Do you know why liquor stores push store picks so much? Do they make more money off them or something?

Had to have been small batch for that price especially if they had weller single barrel for $1000, which can easily be bought for half that.

IDK if they make more money but they are buying an entire barrel which is going to be 150ish bottles instead of 6 in a case. Id imagine the cost per bottle is much less. I do like store picks depending on the store who’s picking them. They will sample a few barrels and then buy the whole thing

I just moved to Norfolk from Omaha and I feel like I’m screwed trying to find anything in this area.
Yup….. in Norfolk your best liquor store is……. Hy-Vee right by Menards……at least they have a brewery if you like IPAs. Their food in the downtown Divots leaves a little to be desired though.

They are able to charge a premium for them because they are unique, and often times, people at the store and even customers actually helped pick them. So they essentially get the bottles from the barrel near the SRP of the standard bottle, but the bottles they get will be unique to that specific barrel that they thought was the best of the options they had to choose from.

Ive seen EHT Single Barrels for that price in my area, but you are 100% right. If they had Weller Single Barrels for $1k, it’s likely Small Batch and an easy pass.

Sharing this for anyone like me who never has any idea what to ask the wife for Christmas. Aged & Ore is the company.

There was a Brewzle post about this earlier this week. How much?
MSRP essentially. Got it in a bundle with a Russell’s Single Barrel for $370. The Single Rickhouse is $300 retail, I believe.
Edit: BTW, I opened it for 2 hours before 1st pour, and then let it sit another 20 min in a Glencairn. I’m biased toward Turkey products, admittedly, so take this with a grain of salt.
The finish is exceptionally long. Dark fruits, cherry, and hint of medicinal cherry, the slightest bit of vanilla, and then finishes with oak and spice. I love it, and for the highest proof Turkey ever, it doesn’t drink that way. Drinks closer to 105-110 I think.
