NSFW Best live show you’ve seen

This list is gonna make me seem like I wear baggy jean shorts, but just remember these were all pre-2004 so I wasn't even 18 yet:

Nine Inch Nails @ Civic Auditorium
Tool @ Red Rocks
Slipknot @ The Royal Grove when they were just an opener

Most of my concerts in the last decade have been indie and punk bands that nobody will care about, except for maybe CHVRCHES at Radio City Music Hall.
I'm here for the punk bands no one will care about

Linkin Park.

It will be unpopular for many here, but I pretty much grew up through my high school years on LP. My high school years were not the best and LP's music definitely helped me out with some personal issues.

Come my freshman year at UNL. One day, my fraternity vice president says he had LP tickets in Omaha (coming from the 308, I didn't know jackshit getting around Omaha area) and he couldn't go at the last minute due to a midterm. I said I would take them and I called up my really good friend from my high school days who was also attending UNL. We both said fuck it to whatever the next day of classes brought and drove to Omaha.

From there, LP was awesome. The music live was something out of this park. Sometimes it's not the music, but the experience meeting with old feelings was something to never forget.
I was in the front row of their show at Pershing when I was a junior in high school. I was a big LP fanboy and they played one of their unreleased songs which I knew all of the words to so one of their managers talked to security and pointed to me. They asked if I wanted to come up onstage and let me watch the rest of the show from the side of the stage and meet the band afterwards. Really nice guys, obviously so sad about Chester. I kinda outgrew their music after high school and college, but definitely remain a fan because of that experience.

Joyce Manor
The Menzingers
Jeff Rosenstock
Beach Slang
Cloud Nothings
Japandroids
New Found Glory

Those are some of the ones I saw while in New York
I've wanted to see the Menzingers live for years.

New Found Glory has always been a pretty good show.

Menzingers were soooo good. New Found Glory was fun - it was their 20th anniversary tour and I just happened to open Bandsintown and see that they were playing at a venue in Jersey City like 5 blocks from my apt the next weekend so we went. I never saw them live in their hay day so it was cool to see them in a small venue.

Edit - I saw the Menzingers just as they were releasing After The Party, which was probably helped it still be a pretty energetic show. I really like Hello Exile, but not sure what their live shows would be like these days.

Robert Randolph seems like he'd be incredible live
Live show blew my mind. The first show I did with him he was a relatively unknown. He has a special gift. In smaller venues it feels like he is making eye contact with everyone there. During the whole show no matter where I was it seemed that I would look up and make eye contact with him. That's not unusual because many times the bands would keep an eye out for me or try to communicate stuff from stage. But I wasn't alone as almost everyone I talked to after the concert felt like he was looking at them during the show.

Robert is a great guy, so down to earth. Not a big partier or head case. Always loved shows with him. One of those people that is a joy to talk to, just has that sparkle in his eye and such a positive energy.

One of my favorite musicians ever to work with. Who would have thought a Gospel Rock Steel Guitar player would be near the top of my list.

I also should have added the Reverend Horton Heat & Nashville Pussy to my list. The Rev and I got a special bond. He's a different level of cool. I did a concert with them on the night of Sept 11th, not dry eye in the house.

My buddy was head of Security for Linkin Park for a few tours. Nice guys and soooooo easy to do security for. They were known as one of the most boring bands when it came to life on the road.

The partiers can be a real handful if they like to go out on the town. Security Personnel's worst nightmare as the bigger names need someone with them whenever they leave the hotel.

DMB - Civic Auditorium
Ben Harper - Ames
U2 - CHI Center
Matchbox 20 - Sioux City
Greenday - KC
Bare Naked Ladies, Cracker, Blues Traveler - Harrahs
Toad the Wet Sprocket - Harrahs
Collective Soul - KC
Bob Dylan - Civic
Widespread Panic - Westfair
I saw Ben Harper in Ames.
I had never heard of him before the show, but I'll be darned if it wasn't one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Rush in KC in 2004(?) was pretty cool.

Metallica at Broncos stadium
GnR at Broncos stadium
John Legend at Red Rocks
A surprisingly fantastic show was Alanis Morrisette in Vegas. Ryan Adams an opener.
Dave Matthews a number of times at Fiddlers Green.
White Zombie at Pershing
I think I was at the same Metallica show at Broncos Stadium. Did Linkin Park open for them that time? The one I went to was in the summer and hotter than heck. I was with Linkin Parks former security guy and they gave us passes. But they were limited access passes. Back stage we ran into Metallicas Tour Manager and he was like WTF, why don't you have the good passes? Hooked us up. They had what they called The Rubber Room. Basically this huge tent that was air conditioned that had food, bar, tv's, video games, couches......... it was like a pimped out pad for the musicians and their guests. Quite the party scene in there. And the best part is there were 3 of us so he gave us 6 passes, cuz what better way to find 3 single women to join us. Was like shooting fish in a barrel when walking around with those passes looking for some talented dirty leg. I believe Limp Bizkit was also on that Stadium Tour. Metallica put on an amazing show, love their energy on stage. They bring it every time.

I completely forgot I had the most recent season of Archer sitting in my YouTube TV DVR section, and I binged a few episodes last night in a desperate attempt to finish the season before I shoot YTTV in the head for dropping ESPN tonight at midnight. CapitalOne Bowl Season will have to be delivered by a new streaming provider it seems.
