August recruiting thread

Gatlin Bair committed to Boise. But maybe he will change his mind like the Mormon church did about Black people in the mid 70s

Well he has a 2 year mission trip coming up right? Boise will have a spot for him then. Michigan? Who knows. I'm sure he'll get recruited all over again once he's actually ready to start school.
If he signs a letter of intent in December it is binding for three years. Boise could release him, but he can't undo it.

Oregon moving to the B1G in 2024 probably means our 2024 class will be 6th, not 5th, in the BiG.

As much as people piled on Stanford, their '24 recruiting class is neck and neck with ours in the On 3 rankings

The problem with Stanford is they can’t process their recruiting misses because they can’t get transfers in and if they have recruited an NFL caliber player they are more likely to get poached.

“You’re an NFL player, transfer to *insert school here* you can just be a football player and not have to worry so much about grades”

Stanfords own players can’t get into their graduate school to play their 5th year.

Then we better land Manske, which isn’t a given.
Yeah, that'd be great. However, I think a lot of folks have long expressed some doubts about Saunders being a great QB prospect. Probably pretty good, but seems a bit slight. What the hell do I know, though?

There are also a few other '25 QB offers out there, but it seems reasonable to conclude that Manske is the #1 guy.

This actually seems like one of the rare cases where "we cooled..." is accurate. The timing with Manske coming to camp and Saunders no longer showing any Nebraska momentum is likely not coincidental.
Competing view - I think Saunders told us June 10 on his visit that he really liked Kentucky - which was the rumor at the time. Manske's first visit to Nebraska was a camp the next day, June 11 - when Saunders was visiting Kentucky: Saunders visits -

From a Kentucky site story earlier in the spring - KY OC Liam Coen is a close friend of Saunders' father.

A top 25 quarterback in the class, the Harrisburg, PA native has picked up quite a few impressive offers this spring. Texas A&M, Georgia, Michigan and Nebraska are now in the mix. Fortunately, Kentucky has an inside connection. The Wildcats’ offensive coordinator is a close family friend with Saunders’ father.

I suppose it's possible, and definitely an interesting bit of information. However, it's worth noting Coen was hired in early January of this year. Maybe it took a little bit for him to leverage that relationship with Saunders's father, but there was plenty of heat with Saunders and Nebraska long after that.

Moreover, it's not like Manske got an offer and then we kept hearing about Saunders being the presumptive favorite for the class. It felt very much like Manske had an excellent performance and switch flipped.
