This is an accurate list and good read on the many things wrong with the program.

When a list is this big and there are fundamental flaws like you noted, that is indicative of a bigger problem. It's normal to be flawed in a few of those areas but this many is damning for the HC. Rhule has been here for 3 years and we're worried about our roster in 2026. We have no foundation to our program and 2026 looks like a transitional year under a new coach.

This is ultimately why I'm out on him. I get it that he isn't getting fired going into 2026, but I see no realistic possibility that he solves these issues, either with new hires or portal additions.

We’ve got holes, yes. More than we should, yes.

I’m not sure it’s fair to say we’ve got no foundation.

I don’t see a huge difference. Rhule got boat raced by a bad Minnesota team and embarrassed at home against Cockeye in year 3 and ended it with a real dud in the bowl game. Okay Rhule made some bowl games, but this year we should have been a 8-9 win team minimum with this schedule if Rhule is a good coach. Next year is set up for a train wreck season.
I guess I just don’t agree. Frost would need to win 15 games in a row to be .500.

Rhule has the better wins and none of his losses are as bad as Georgia Southern or a 1 win Northwestern team. I think we’re forgetting how bad and embarrassing it was. Comparing only their B1G records is dumb when Frost has losses against Troy and GS.

With that said, it’s not good enough — I’m with you there. If I had to bet, Rhule doesn’t get it turned around but firing him after this year is unrealistic.

At some point we have to pick the right coach don’t we? I’m not looking to be in the playoffs every year, but I would like to see a physical smart team on a weekly basis. I thought Rhule would actually give us something close to that, but he hasn’t.

Idk if it’s a head coach picking problem or a Nebraska problem at this point.

Every coach we’ve had seems to feel the need to pay homage to the traditions of the past in playing, coaching, or program building.

Which made me appreciate what Christbol said last night more and more about Miami.

“I cringe when I hear Miami is back. We can’t be those guys, we don’t want to be those guys, we’ve got to go do it better than those guys.”

What is the foundation?

If you're not developing players, created depth within your roster in three seasons, and have failed on your coaching hires, what do we have to fall back on and how does that translate to success?

I respect that opinion. And in the end you may be right.

I'm choosing to cut Rhule slack on the Raiola circus thing and the 2025 roster thing. I believe the Raiola circus thing was something he had to do. And the 2025 roster constraints were partly driven by a lack of funds.

That's why I am still backing Rhule in 2026. He cleaned the Raiola cancer from the system. And he supposedly can spend money like the big boys. If I don't see clear improvement and a clear direction then I will call it like I see it. But I'm staying on board for the reasons I mentioned.

I think the NIL landscape submarined Rhule who expected this thing to be a gradual build via recruiting and development. Problem is the competition was better at the development and the talent acquisition.

That’s on him fair or not. Either they’ll figure it out this offseason, next and do enough to make it to ‘28 or they won’t. Really wouldn’t expect him gone after next season unless he misses a bowl game.

We’ve gotten proven coaches and they forget how to coach.

We’ve gotten hot up and comers and they’re shit.

We’ve tried inexperienced guys and they’re terrible.

Until TO dies and the curse is lifted, we’re wasting our time.

If you’re talking about the topics you’ve listed here I’d probably agree more than I disagree.

If you’re talking the roster I think we’ve got more pieces than many are willing to admit at this point.

You picture any player or coach who has success anywhere else being a complete failure if they had the misfortune to come to Nebraska.

Our program is like some sort of funhouse mirror where you can peek in and see the worst possible of outcome for your career.

I will disagree. It’s head coaching problem. We have enough resources to field a top 25 caliber team every year. Riley was washed up and close to getting fired at OSU when we hired him. Frost was lazy and never put in the effort. Rhule has never beat a good team in his coaching career.

I bet it’s two years before he gets fired if he doesn’t figure it out because we gave him an unneeded extension.

Then if these things were so easy to see, why didn’t we see them? Stupidity? Incompetence? Both? Some other reason?

I’m not being harsh on you. I’m just not willing to believe that ADs know someone sucks and hires them anyways and it’s always obvious for us fans to see to the point that we’d be better off if we ran things.
