Nobody is looking at the bright side here from today….. we actually increased the chances that Rhule and White will still be here next year rather than leave for a new job. 🤣🤣.

Great point. There are guys in their 5th/6th year in the program who have done nothing but lose and seem conditioned to it.

It's been a problem for more than 5 or 6 years. This program has been ok with losing for 10+ years now. It is in their blood, and they would never openly admit it, but they expect losses against even or better competiton. When you expect to lose, you almost always lose.

We used to not be OK with losing. Sure, a team still loses sometimes, but you are beyond pissed about it as a player and instead of putting you in a funk, it motivates you even more. This team and program expects to lose, and it is a hard thing to shake.

I currently voted as “IN” but it depends upon the following factors:

- Do we finish the season with a record of 5-7, 6-6, 7-5, 8-4? 5-7 would make me as an “OUT” as would 6-6.

- Are we better prepared in the remaining games, what type of bowl game (if any) do we get to?

- Does Rhule make the necessary assistant coaching changes to OC, WR, and ST at minimum? We are paying top ten salaries for OC and DC, our ROI should be infinitely better than what it is currently.

- If Rhule does make the necessary changes who are the hires going to be? Are we able to pull in a top shelf OC, WR, and STC?

- Does Rhule make changes to the offensive philosophy and move away from the pro style to more of an up tempo, or RPO type scheme?

- How does Rhule adapt and shift his focus and overall philosophy with regards to NIL and paying top dollar for HS players and top level transfers?

Again in years 3 + under Rhule he has won usually 10 + games, and those are my expectations starting next year. We didn’t hire Rhule to win 7,8,9 games a year, we hired him to make our program relevant on the nation stage and in the CFP.

IF Rhule decides to stay the course and not adapt changes to the points ⬆️ I do see Matt Rhule eventually being let go from his position. He has to see that CFB has changed and his methods might need some tweaking, IE brining in a bunch of portal additions to help make an Indianus like jump next season.
I don't want to answer yes and I don't want to answer no and I'd rather kill myself than root for Cockeye. Can we get another option?

This team waits for things to happen. When the bad happens then the death spiral starts. They can't regroup and pull themselves out.

I got rid of my seasons tickets about 5 years ago mainly because they sucked and I’ve lived in Oklahoma for the past 12 so I wasn’t going to a lot of games with kids. But damn o feel sorry for the poor bastards still paying the seat donation(if it’s still a thing) and then the cost of the tickets.

Until Rhule can win 6+ games (in the portal era no less) and also prove he can beat ranked teams, then what is there to be ‘in’ on?

Love the guy but, as a coach, his overall lack of production is not yet redeemable.

NU fans have seen this far too many times (with way too much money invested/lost) to let blind hope override the product that we see week to week.

At this point, the only hope HCMR can sell is IF he were to completely revamp his O staff in the offseason with unquestionable, highly proven commodities in effort to turn his ‘NFL’ mantra into a reality. Short of that, history will repeat itself…NU will continue to lose & we’ve already seen the best of DR that we are going to see.

This game was atrocious but I’m not throwing the baby out with the bath water here. My hopes and expectations for this year were to get to a bowl. That can and should happen.

That being said, my LONGTERM hopes and expectations took a major hit today and I no longer think this particular staff can get it done. Rhule, yes. This assistant group, no. Gotta make some changes after the season, this isn’t gonna cut it. I don’t know why every coach we get needs to learn the hard way that you can’t have major success with buddies and protégés, but I believe Rhule will actually learn the lesson and adjust accordingly.

Play calling is shit/predictable and now our 5 star qb has regressed which scares me. No explosive plays and run game is worst off.
Development is really bad but this team still really lacks the Jimmy and the Joe's.
We haven't had quality football players for over a decade or more.

I just don't get what Rhule is bringing to the table if all his assistants suck. He's not a great offensive mind, he's not an elite recruiter, he is not a great game manager. His selling point has been development and program building and both of those things are severely lacking

Obviously he has a huge buyout so he's not going anywhere any time soon

It's just pathetic that this staff had 2 whole fucn weeks to figure out how to stop this offense knowing dam well they struggle with type of offense. Obviously, this staff is in over their heads and can't develop a scheme to stop an RPO style offense. There's probably a reason why Rhule struggled at the NFL level.

And sadly I don't think he would be the type to do anything to get fired a la Mel Tugger.

Another concern for Rhule today is that the team has gotten worse as the season has progressed. In a healthy program, you’d be expecting improvement.

I understand the competition is better, but the way the offense has regressed is crazy. And the defense speaks for itself.

The team that played the first half vs CU would absolutely destroy the team that played today.

I hear you, to be honest his CEO/motivational/buy in/tone-setting personality qualities carry a lot of weight for me. I don’t think he’s a football mastermind, but I do think he has vision and work ethic and he’s comfortable in his own skin as the leader of our program. He embraces all of it.

Our previous coaches all lacked one or more of those things and they all lost their minds and/or just fucking crumbled under the weight that is NU football. Rhule isn’t going to crumble, I think that in itself is an extremely rare quality at a place like Nebraska. I’m hanging my hat on that for now. But he’s gotta prove his CEO qualities by getting the right underlings ASAP.

Last years team got better outside of QB play. Its a wild difference.

I Also think the current CU team would destroy us right now. We have really regressed in a bunch of areas.
