2026/2027 Tennessee-Nebraska Series Cancelled

If you wanted an expanded playoff, then this is what comes with it. Nobody wants to play tough games early and potentially miss out on the CFP.
Should be the opposite way, a nonconference loss hurts less than ever.

This is straight up running scared and Danny White let the world know it.

A very easy rebuttal would be that they're too scared of playing 9 conferences games and already moved this game once.

Again, no one is going to care by next week.

The excuse of wanting 8 home games is bullshit. We look like gigantic pussies for cancelling that series.

I am disappointed that I won’t get to make a trip to Knoxville to see Nebraska play, but understand and agree with the move for all the reasons listed in the thread so far.

Is the stadium renovation an excuse? To an extent, but lost revenue is lost revenue and why should we do what very few of our peers will be doing by 2026 and 2027 and that’s play an OOC game against a tough team on the road.

I’d rather keep the OOC closer to the versions we’d see during the Osborne years and position ourselves for a CFP selection.

Do I like the optics? Not one bit. Do I think we’re the only school doing this? Not even close.

Smh. Bitch move.

Edit: I am just sad because I wanted to go to Neyland.

I’ve been, wanted to see Nebraska play there, but I can say the exiting the area experience is one of the worst I’ve ever been through. One of the shittiest roadway designs for a venue that holds 100k I can even imagine.

SEC will play 9 conference games when they get paid to do it. If ESPN is willing to up their media deal then the SEC will play 9 games, they just aren't going to do it for free.
