The Alberts piece is bad enough, but further up the page on the link has Matt Rhule listed as the #1 ‘Hype over Substance’ coach. This kind of sums up all the things the folks on this board who hated the hire and continue to hate Rhule have said.

In fairness to Dannen, there was a large percentage of our fanbase gripping when Franklin got fired the week before Minnesota. We’re sitting pretty at 5-1, heavily favored over Minnesota and the fear was Rhule is gone if asked.
Dannen does what he thinks is the responsible thing at the time, and if you dive into the extension he really didn’t do us any harm, we get our brakes knocked off by the Rodents and that’s that.
I want to see some activity in the off season with the coaching staff, and I’ll leave it at that. As far as Dannen goes, give the program what it needs to be successful and stay out of the way. We suck in ’26 and he better be ready for action.

We made mistakes in roster management that hurt us up front on defense. I know it’s not as easy as ‘Go get a guy’, but we went into this fall with Juedy as our go to interior DL and that’s just not good. RVP is still developing, Lenhardt capped out at ‘serviceable’ and the rest are kids. We were decent in our back 8 most of the year, though the LB’s struggled to overcome lack of help up front.
On offense, we seem to be trying too hard not to make a mistake with Dylan in the game. I don’t know how much of that is Holgorsen’s play calling or Dylan himself, but I expected more with the WR room, EJ and another year of D1 football under his belt. our tackles are bad and cycling out or just not ready. Need to fix that in a hurry.
’26 stacks up to be a more difficult schedule on paper. I say ‘on paper’, because it’s likely NONE of our opponents simply stay static due to guys timing out, transferring, opting out early, etc. Our toughest games will be at home, but if we only improve moderately, I can see 6 or 7 wins next year.

Anyone that points to Rhule's career record as evidence that he isn't a good head coach is, frankly, an idiot.
I'm not saying everyone has to think he's great, and there are CERTAINLY things to at the very least quesiton - but that's a shit support for the claim and if that's all someone has, I immediately dismiss them as nincompoops

Rhule’s three stops to date in FBS football are Virginia Tech, Texas and Michigan and I’d be wondering what the hell we’re doing as well.
Temple was bad before he got there, Baylor was worse and we pretty much sucked when he showed up as well. I don’t completely dismiss years 1 and 2 at Temple and Baylor, but anyone who can’t see progress there is a dipshit.
Now I don’t have an issue with someone concerned that we’ve made mistakes between years two and three and during year three here in Lincoln that can be attributed to Rhule. That’s fair. To say he’s been hot garbage here is false.
As with nearly all things, reality lies somewhere in the middle.

I'm so sick of our media guys - I get it, it's how they make money - but I'd like to think I'd find more positive spins to help out the collegiate team I'm on the beat for...The amount of drama our own media coverage hurls at our program to deal with in season is maddening

Oh, brother, I dismiss ALL of years 1 and 2 at Baylor...he was allotted 44 scholarships to everyone else's 85. It's insane what he was able to do there - like, one of the more impressive non-natty winning coaching jobs we've seen in my honest opinion
