I’d like to see Caleb Benning in Hugehog’s spot. Dude has a nose for the ball and is also a sure tackler. Good instincts. He’s probably like Rex where he’s still a year away, but I’d like to see his role expand if Hugehog remains down.
He was in concussion protocol last game. No idea if he’s out yet. Damon has been off air all week, assume Vrz related.

Just a guess, but sometimes I think the betting public overreacts to injury news. Likely a flood of money on Nebraska covering within 24 hours of Michigan State announcing their starting LT and best offensive linemen is out for the Nebraska game.

Is his absence worth that many points? Who knows.

This has a Michigan State cover and outright win written all over it. Sparty 31 - Nebraska 26.

Under the previous staff, I’d agree. A game that looks like a likely win that turns into a close loss.

I don’t think this will be the cake walk some do, but I don’t see Nebraska losing.

Outside of the bizarre Covid season and Maryland’s first team with Mike Locksley, Frost was never close to a double digit favorite in a Big Ten game.

I’m not going to research 4+ years of shit football, but that doesn’t sound right at all.

Even as a 7-9 point favorite, which to me is close to double digits, he’d still find a way to lose.

That, more than the spread itself, was my point. Michigan State looks to be an inferior team on paper and this is exactly the type of game Frost & Co would find a way to lose in epic fashion. Have to win this game, IMO.

As Nebraska wraps up its preparations for its homecoming showdown vs. Michigan State, head coach Matt Rhule gave the latest on the Huskers following Thursday morning’s practice.

Here’s a full recap of what he had to say…

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule

***Rhule said the forecast for strong winds on Saturday was “part of being here” at Nebraska. They practiced outside this spring in high winds and cold, so the players are used to it. The wind will be a factor “in everything you do,” especially in the kicking game.

He referenced how wind impacted last year’s Rutgers and Maryland games, as well as this season’s game against Akron.

***Rhule called linebackers
Javin Wright and Vincent Shavers “run-and-hit guys.” He thinks they’ll be important against a dual-threat quarterback like Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles.

***Rhule said Demitrius Bell practiced this week, but then injured his other hamstring. He said it’s not a “long-term deal,” but it would hold the receiver out a bit longer.

***Rhule said Malcolm Hartzog would work out before the game and “we’ll see where he’s at” regarding his status for Michigan State.

***Rhule said it’s been since 2019 that Nebraska last beat MSU, and the team is looking at it as another opportunity to end an extended drought like Wisconsin last year. He thinks the Huskers are fired up to play again. However, it wasn’t because they were still dwelling on the loss to Michigan. It’s because they have another chance to take a step toward reaching their goals.
