It patterns great up to 35 yards then the lack of pellets in a .410 starts catching up to shots on target and there are uneven spreads and gaps

Anything further than that the only load I've found that holds really good is Remington Express Long Range. I can get a legit pattern still with enough terminal velocity at 50 yards with #6 shot
I’m usually in heavily treed areas, so that sounds great!

same here now that we live in the Ozarks

this firearm season I'm using my Dad's old 30-30 with buckhorn sights that were zeroed in by my Dad banging on them with the bottom of his leatherman... so thank God my average range shot is gonna 25-to-100 yards with this Redneck Precision rifle (complete with hillbilly chassis = rust flecked blued steel and wood that's been stained by years of WD-40 abuse)

PS: I will only be able to go out 3 days so I fully expect to get shut out and/or only get a doe... but I'm gonna feel like an alpha if I do it with the old man's gun

Missorui

Crime so bad here the Attorney Generals office compensates me amazing to work on average 2 days a week across the State.

My parents bought a lake house and retired here in 2020 (dad also bought the 6 acres surrounding them becuz the best neighbor is yourself)

I got offered a job to be a hired gun by the new AG Bailey to combat rural crime in MO and it was too good to pass up so my wife and I bought 44 acres here (4 acres on the Lake, the rest is timber that I've been slowly improving the past 3 years) and moved the family to Missour'ah for me to scalp defendants for the State.

No idea that Ozarks of Missouri was that bad. I visit Buffalo River for a long paddle every couple years in Arkansas and love it. Never had an issue with my parked vehicle in isolated location for over a week to 10 days at a time.

Wait. You’ve abandoned McCook? How about your wife’s practice? Did she set up shop down there?

Perhaps we can get a mod to pin this thread to the top of the page. I know a lot of you guys are outdoorsy folks so I figure maybe this thread would be a good dumping ground for fish pictures, hiking pictures, etc.

Some shots I’ve taken at the 70 acre nature preserve on bluffs overlooking the pacific, two blocks from our home, where I walk the pups twice daily. Quality of photos aren’t the best as they were taken with my phone.

I'm like ~18 miles as the crow flies from @MtnHusker but its like a hour drive

Wife is home with the boys (2 and 5), we live 1/2 a mile from my parents. My Dad is retired now and constantly doing retired boomer antics and they both get to see my kids 1,000x more than I ever got to see my grandparents.

I prosecute major cases across Missouri (ex: 8 murder trials in 3 years) I'm in Court usually 1 or 2 days a week in a random place. I'm gone all day but other than that the other 5 days of the week I work from home a little and just spend time with the family.

My salary is $104,000 + get paid mileage + full Blue Cross Blue Shield and Dental for my family of 4.

I'd guess my line item cost for total "compensation" is ~$134,000.... which for an attorney is sweet for working 2 days a week.

PS: cost of living is so damn low here I'd say to get the equivalent of this in Lincoln/Omaha/KC etc. I'd have to make of an extra $30k+

Few pictures from weekend fishing trip in the Kenai. We both lost some very large Dolly Varden in this small creek. Honestly I thought I hooked a sockeye salmon until it went aerial. My guess was 25-30 inches. I had to sit down and have a beer before I could continue fishing.

There's a tree up the hill from my house that this guy and two other bald eagles have been hanging out at everyday. The other two do not have their bald heads yet. Pretty cool to see.
Growing up, these guys were so rare at least in the South Eastern U.S. There was a rehab center for them in Warm Springs Ga just down the road from my childhood home. I saw my 1st Baldy when I was 12 sitting in a deer stand. My dad didn't believe me. My grandfather did though. Now these guys are a common sight where I grew up. My mom had a nesting pair this year we could see from her house on Lake Harding off The Hooch. Here in WNC, I often paddle up on them on our rivers and it isn't unusual to see them on the city section of the French Broad River. Count the Bald Eagles comeback as one of those things we got right. I love how you can instantly know it's an adult baldy when you see them because of the black and white contrast. Sometimes, folks will see an osprey and ask if it's a bald eagle. Pretty safe around here it's an osprey because you had to ask. With adults that is. Great pic and thanks for sharing.

My cousin is a fire fighter on the peninsula. Everytime he send me pictures I get closer to moving there
