Except pizza is shit and their hotdogs have a damn salad on the top. I can't get past that. Big cities are going to have great food from all over. Speaking more regional food, what else is Chicago known for. Legit asking because pizza and dogs is only thing I know for regional, and those aren't going in my mouth again.
Chicago dogs are elite. Chicago pizza is more of a casserole (so very midwestern) and mostly for tourists, but it's probably the best regional pizza style out.

I drive 2 hours plus just for great hotdogs. My favorite style is a chili dog, no beans. Cincinnati chili on a hotdog is A+, and that is midwestern. I love chili slaw dogs, and that is more Southern/Carolina style. Chicago dogs aren't my cup of tea. I like salads, just not on my hotdog.

Chicago has like 20 Michelin star restaurants and top tier restaurant on about every block downtown.

Then when you mix in the deep dish, Italian beef, Italian restaurants and all the other shit their known for you can’t walk a block without having some of the best food in the country.

I fucking hate Chicago, but the food scene is incredible. I’d take it over NYC every day of the week.

Cinci chili is an abomination, but aversion to vegetables is pretty southern.

Everyones thinking about this from a BBQ perspective. Chicago is part of the midwest and beats the fuck out of any city in the south food wise.

NOLA is on a short list of top in the US but isn't even close to Chicago.

No, Chicago has better restaurants. But it’s regional cuisine is inferior to the South.

Chicago - Deep Dish pizza (meh) Chicago style hot dogs (meh) Bratwurst or Polish Sausage? Probably a couple other things but they’re not even significant enough for me to think of right now.

South - Cajun Seafood, Seafood in general, Soul Food, BBQ, Tex-Mex, Texas Steak Houses.

Chicago’s restaurants and/or dinning destroy any city in the South, even Miami. But the regional cuisine is still inferior. Fact

Texas isn't the south, it's Texas

Foughtish in the Civil War, and was a State that sought freedom due to slavery. Mexico granted they could keep generation of slaves they had, but not the kids. All to appease the Texans. Then they wanted the kids too, and probably could've gotten Mexico to agree to that. Then rest is history involving the Alamo, the basement in the Alamo, and a bicycle. You can get sweet tea everywhere as far as I've been, so I consider it part of The South although I wouldn't mind if they broke off from the country completely. The way Peewee was treated there says it all.
