Outdoors thread

I don't really hunt in Alaska since moving to Wasilla from Bethel Alaska. A couple teaching buddies of mine wanted to give spring black bear hunting a shot. A mutual friend is letting us use their platform. Each weekend we hike the 4 miles back to the bear bait station to refill it with popcorn and dog food. We've been doing it for about 3 weeks now but this is the first time we've had something other than a marten at the station.

Shoot the mama and raise the cubs as pets.

Would that include bedding a large woman from Cole Camp who had 1 too many tequila shots?

Cole Camp has a great ice cream shop (kind of like Zesto’s).

the ice cream shop is called the Dairy Bar and that's also what the big woman could be called....

PS: Dairy Bar owners are Husker fans btw

My buddy got a bear off our stand a week ago. It was around 6 feet and probably 300 pounds. I sat on it last night and had a brown bear come in. It’s ripped our barrel off the tree completely.

It came in last night but didn’t get a good picture.

Can you get permits for Brown bears?

Yeah, I'm not sure about the unit I hunt but it's not something I have any interest in. You can eat them in the spring but they generally don't taste as good as black bear. We actually have a slingshot in the stand to scare away brown bears that are feeding on our bait station.
