Stock Market/Investing/Day Trading/Speculative Trading Thread

So how's everyone's year-end review look? I had decent-ish returns overall, but kinda underperformed the market. Guess it's time to think about re-balancing my holdings...

the only self buy position I have that is crushing it over this past year is Nelnet

me: wrong about graphite and lithium

How does this work?
Instead of buying the s&p 500…buy all 500 stocks that make up the index…algorithm sales the losers to lock in the tax offsets, buys back after wash sale rules. It gives you a greater after tax return. Think of it this way…s&p 500 is up 20%; only 60% of the stocks in the s&p 500 are actually up. If you have an etf, you have no way to realize the loss on the stocks that are actually down; this gives you that ability.

That makes sense. Thank you.
