Didn’t this “ team meeting “ happen while on the road at a hotel? Can’t remember if it was before or after a game but do recall the players conducted the sting. I view the meeting as more of a unity council thing where they were trying to let teammate know it was not acceptable not to mention the lying… We don’t know if everyone was actually there- that’s just accusation .
Team meeting was while they were at Pedo St. It was before the game b/c Love and Scoggin were not present at the game. All team players, coaches, staff, and scout team were in the meeting "questioning" Love and Scoggin. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The players that made the video are no longer on the team but could make an appearance to corroborate Scoggin's story. Which would spell DOOM for Williams.

This will end in an out of court settlement obviously. Because any courtroom proceedings on this would be highly embarrassing for the university.

I assume UNL will pay Scoggin to go away. How much? $500k? $1m, 2m, 3m? (I honestly have no idea)

Not a bad gig for her if all of this was actually consensual between her and the asst coach. Hard to say w the power dynamics at play though.

The question really is how bad does UNL want all this to go away? They have an AD on the rise and they're trying to be NCAA leaders in women's athletics....I have to think UNL will be very motivated to make this go away.

OR

Can UNL just fire Williams to make this go away? (with a smaller out of court settlement). Gotta think UNL regents would rather drop Williams and save the $2m...

People in here that are blaming the former player/young adult are weird. More than likely the blame should go to the full grown man who is in a position of power of the young woman. How did you all feel about Larry Nasar? Should those girl have just "kept their legs closed", you fucking weirdos.
Do you actually believe that what happened here is analogous to what happened with Nassar?

Gotta believe the latter here. WBB is on the rise but if your HC is not being the type of leader behind the scenes then 86 her. Throw Amy her severance or buy out, which amounts to a hill O beans, all things considered. Toss AS her money and be done with it. Really easy for the University to fire her and explain it.

The thing about this that I really don't understand is the treatment of Scoggin AFTER the fact. Sure she was removed from the team BUT she was still in Lincoln for some time. My understanding is, in that time no one from the University checked on her. Not saying that they needed to or were under any obligation other than being kind humans.

Not necessarily at the moment. I do however believe that we don't have all the facts of the situation. My point was that some people in here were quick to shift the blame on her and not call out the man who is probably around twice her age. Was using Nassar as the analogy on the extreme end? Yes, but I still believe there are probably some guys in here who had that same thought initially.

I don’t think anyone here thinks that the assistant coach isn’t to blame. Scoggin is not a victim though, she was an adult who made the choice to have sex with her married coach and continued to do so after her teammates called her out on it, and she is the one who filed the lawsuit.

I'm probably a bad person for thinking this, but she was of consenting age. Excuse the pun, but she sort of "fucked" over her team with inappropriate adult behavior. So checking in is irrelevant from my perspective. And he was completely and utterly inappropriate with his actions as well. Neither is no longer here, nor should they be.

There is context from the university's side that we haven't heard yet. Assuming the meeting happened in front of the whole team, that to me is something the university might be uncomfortable about.

Again though, I come back to her being a consenting adult....AND he is no longer with the program. If it's not consenting, then it's rape. You don't see her going down that road. Everyone knows his resignation means that he wasn't going to be retained. It's not like there wasn't accountability from the University with both parties.

My read on it is that once it became apparent this Scoggin/Love thing was happening....everyone associated with the team (HC, asst coaches, players, equipment managers, etc) believed this was 100% consensual.

IMHO that's why Amy Williams reacted the way she did in the immediate aftermath.

Looking back on it now, I think you have to fire the asst coach immediately and suspend the player/put her in counseling immediately. You have to do this as a CYA for what may happen later.

I don't buy the part that Williams should have known becuase she had a close relationship with Love. It's not like this stuff just comes up in casual converstatoin during coaches meetings. It later talks about the lengths they went to to keep it secret. Meeting in parking lots after midnight, Snapchatting, etc. I'm not sure how Williams instinctually "should have known" about all that.

On the other hand, the part where Williams invited the whole team to berate/interroage/confront Love and Scoggin in person seems like a bit much. How did she think that was a good idea?
I mean I assume his wife was close to him and apparently knew nothing.

It's interesting that Lincoln parents are still using this guy as a personal coach for their HS girls.

When this happened I wouldn't have thought any parents would want their teenaged daughters around him.

I can only guess that any personal coaching session begins with a detailed explanation of what happened from Chuck to the parents (ie it was consensual, not grooming, not a predator, etc)

I just think the blame goes to two adults who know they are in the wrong.
