If we can give Hoiberg time why not Rhule?

But he's not going to get us anywhere near the CFP, even with infinite time. That much is clear.
You just plain don't know that for sure.

Is it likely he never will? Yes. Nothing and I mean nothing can be stated for certain about an infinite timeline...in fact if you want to get really nerdy about it, in a truly infinite timeline it's not only possible but it would be a mathematical impossibility not to happen.

Well… then I’d say you’re about to see Rhule defy the laws of physics and mathematical probability.

I didn't realize you cared so much about answering these questions. So here you go.

No.

First, your data is wrong first off...because if the idea is "Fred sucked then did better, Rhule can to...Rhule sucks right now are they comparable??" not "how does Fred's successful season compare to Rhule's shitty season" you can't include this year, you have to compare Fred's suck to Rhule's suck and you have to use the same amount of time because again, the idea was there's more games against ranked teams in basketball.

Here's the actual for Fred:
24-25 4-3
23-24 2-4
22-23 1-2

Total 7-9

Fred got 16 opportunities in 3 years. Rhule got 9.

Are those equal? No. Nor did I claim they were. In fact I have even said here that Fred has done more than Matt with less.

No, I said I'll never understood why some (might be you, might not) argue that beating ranked teams in a losing season is better than losing to ranked teams in a winning season.

Not to mention "ranked when they played them" is pretty dumb actually because it's often not indicative of how good they actually are vs at the end of the season, when they're fully exposed.

None, nor have I made that claim such a game exists. But again, fluky games in basketball happen because there's many many more games. For instance, Wisconsin beat #3 Michigan 10 days ago. Are they better? No. Not even close. But sometimes in basketball there's off nights that meet up with a team getting hot.

Yeah, I can. Michigan this year (yes, even in a loss). Cincy maybe even. Colorado last year.

Then I saw teams that were inconsistent. A lot like Fred's first 4-5 years. Play well one game, play awful in another.

Now, do I think Rhule is going to put it together? Probably not, but most coaches ultimately fail. Do I think with 100% certainty he won't? Absolutely not.

Predicting coaching success is on a good day a crapshoot.

You hate Rhule, fine. Good for you. There have been signs of improving and changing like with Eck, like with ditching Satt, etc. etc.

You can also see the whiff on a high level DL or RB this cycle as gravely concerning. Both can be true. It's not black and white like you want it to be.

Ranked team in basketball is tougher than ranked team in football as there are twice as many basketball teams.

I agree that beating a ranked team in a losing season is no better than losing to ranked teams in a winning season, and I agree that final ranking is more indicative of how good an opponent is.

As far as seeing progress this season, there were some glimmers but it's hard to get past the blowouts in the last three games against nonelite teams. Just hard to see progress when Penn State, Cockeye and Utah just completely outclassed us.
