My old roommate swore he saw a giant weasel in my yard about 10 years ago. We thought he was just drunk and saw a fox. I live downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Flash forward to two nights ago. My neighbor filmed a fucking fisher. Fishercat. They aren't supposed to live here. Pretty wild. I'll see if I can link video here in a bit.

Uh, what state? Area?

@BushAK - Your relocation from Bethel may have saved your ass. This sounds devastating, yet not much coverage here in the lower 48.

Man, I have some friends who taught in Kipnuk and have since moved on. They are devastated for their friends who lived there. I’m not exactly sure what the state will do. Most of the houses aren’t livable and they won’t be able to get those pre-fab houses until the barges run next summer.

A lot of them are at the big basketball facility with the University of Alaska in Anchorage for the time being.

Global warming

"You can find fishers in southern Canada, New England, New York, and scattered locations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. They could potentially be found in practically every community in Massachusetts. They are forest-dwelling mammals that use various forest habitats and avoid open areas like fields and roads. "

Virginia not far from here and our mountains are connected by continuous forest corridor. Pretty cool though.
