Sign Up Now!The problem with that stat is you are also showing full game stats , when the #1 defense has only played about 8.25 quarters of a possible 12 quarters, while teams were still running at you with the 1’s until late.I think you’re assuming that I compare stats to last year, when in reality I’m comparing them to recent history/national averages. I’ve long been a believer that if you’re top 40 in everything you’ll be in the hunt for the CFP every year. If you can also be elite in a few areas then you’re a conference/National title contender.
top 40 in rush defense is 145ypg. That to me is the goal for this year. Round up to 150 if you’d like. Top 40 in total yards is 350. I feel pretty good that our pass defense is going to be below a 200ypg average, so we’re tracking pretty well right now. From 2022-24 160passing ypg allowed is tops in the nation. So let’s not think we’re gonna keep people to 100 yards passing forever. We’ve got a shot at being an elite pass d this year, but we’re still going to give up yards.
What gives me pause is the percent increase in rushing yards from non-con to conference play.
2023 non-con rushing yards allowed: 43.3ypg
2023 conference rushing yards allowed: 109.4ypg (154% increase)
2024 non-con rushing yards allowed: 70.3ypg
2024 conference rushing yards allowed: 117.5ypg (65% increase)
That’s with a defense designed to stop the run. As you and I agree, we’ve shifted off that and are trying to make up for it by stopping the pass.
2025 non-con rushing yards allowed: 136ypg
A 50% increase means 204ypg allowed
A 25% increase means 170ypg
204ypg would be 110th in the country
170ypg would be 80th or so in the country.
We’re going to give up more rushing yards in conference play, yet we’re already close to our ceiling in what we want to give up rushing. If we give up 175ypg rushing then we NEED to be elite at pass D. We might be, but I don’t like needing to be. I’d love to have some cushion.
Agreed. Hard to get a complete picture this early, but it’s the best we’ve got. And our backups weren’t a huge dropoff against that competition. Not like they were super leaky. The problem with that stat is you are also showing full game stats , when the #1 defense has only played about 8.25 quarters of a possible 12 quarters, while teams were still running at you with the 1’s until late.
Worth taking into account that Colorado was dead last in rushing the past 2 years and that was our big NonCon game.I think you’re assuming that I compare stats to last year, when in reality I’m comparing them to recent history/national averages. I haven’t had a chance to do it, but I’d like to average the entire B10 and their non-con yardage vs. conference yardages. Too many variables and too small of a sample size to go team by team. But if you do it on a conference scale and it shows a 20-30-40% increase in yardage, you could draw some more concrete conclusions from that. That being said, I’m confident there’ll be an increase in yards allowed and it won’t he negligible.Worth taking into account that Colorado was dead last in rushing the past 2 years and that was our big NonCon game.
Dean is a total lightweight. A true nobody.Dean calling Coach quotes “nugs” is an offense to true insidehers
***Butler said Biff's Butthole Surfers using Bryce Underwood more as a runner “changes it a little bit” when preparing for UM’s offense. They’ve made some adjustments to their game plan this week and “will be more prepared for that.”
Butler called Underwood a “pro-style quarterback” who would sit in the pocket and run when needed. Butler charted just two designed runs vs. Central Biff's Butthole Surfers and 6-7 scrambles. Underwood scored on one of those designed runs, but otherwise it was him “making plays with his feet outside of the framework (of the offense).”
Wouldn’t be surprised one bit if they showed it against a lesser opponent knowing they have no plans on using it moving forward just to give Nebraska one more thing to prepare for.I will continue to argue Biff's Butthole Surfers did Nebraska a giant favor this week by running Underwood 17 times vs. Central Biff's Butthole Surfers. Its a lot easier to prepare for something an opponent has shown on film.

SIAP - I believe part of Sherrone's suspension is he cannot have contact with the team this week - it's not just sitting out the game.
How the FUCK is that enforced? I want someone posted up at their facility 24/7 ensuring he's not arriving.
