Who's on campus: Nine important official visitors for Nebraska this weekend
Nebraska has some very important 2026 targets in town all weekend

How fluid is recruiting? Just days before an official visit set to
Nebraska the Huskers missed out on Camren Haimel as the defensive back from
Arizona committed to Texas A&M, dropping out of the weekend's visit list.
No worries though as the Huskers have a lot of intriguing pieces and talented targets still coming to Lincoln that the team would love to add to its 2026 class.
Here's who to know:
Hayden Ainsworth — A big lineman from Biloxi, Ainsowrth comes to Nebraska as one of the four linemen in town this weekend.
The Huskers are looking to rebuild its depth up front and Ainsworth at 6-foot-5, 305 pounds would be a possible swing candidate that could play either interior or as a tackle.
Nebraska gets its shot this week, but Ainsworth will be busy with trips to
Florida State,
Liberty,
North Carolina and
Ole Miss all following.
Nebraska is viewed as one of the teams in the best spot. Perhaps this weekend could firm things up?
Brian Bonner — This very intriguing and talented
California running back comes out to Nebraska again after visiting in the fall. The Huskers don't have one committed and of their options, Bonner feels like the high-end one with the speed and a frame that suggests he can add weight and dole out punishment too, not just try to outrun defenders.
Bonner is being recruited by some different schools and Nebraska falls right in the middle with the running back having already visited
UCLA and
Washington with
Notre Dame and
Penn State still to come.
Nebraska needs impact at running back. This would be a big get.
CJ Bronaugh — The lone commitment in the group of visitors, Bronaugh is checking out Nebraska for the first time since his November visit. That visit helped land the defensive back last fall, but now everyone in the country is aware of his size and speed, making him a very sought after commodity.
Nebraska has to show this weekend that it can be a place Bronaugh wants to be at, where he would pass up the proximity
Florida, Florida State and
Miami can all offer.
There's a reason Nebraska landed the defender initially but all the attention may have changed the picture here.
Ryan Miret — There are recruitments where a player just seems like a good fit culturally and position wise. Miret is a heavyweight wrestler, who is a hard working lineman that will slot in at guard or at center somewhere.
Miret knows all about hand-to-hand combat and finding balance with good footwork. The lineman has built strong relationships with
Matt Rhule and
Donovan Raiola, while continuing an existing one with his area recruiter
Phil Simpson.
This would feel like a slam dunk — except the Miami Hurricanes have chased Miret too and the pull to stay home seems like it could be very strong.
Kelvin Obot — There might be more important position targets or retaining the commitment in Bronaugh's case, but Obot is a highly ranked, highly recruited offensive lineman from
IDaho that the Huskers have emphasized since last fall when he visited for the
Wisconsin game.
Nebraska is in a fight here. It can't win proximity or prestige. It isn't the alma mater of Obot's high school coach and it hasn't been more successful that suitors
Michigan,
Oregon and Utah.
What Nebraska has is people who Obot has connected with and made the lineman feel comfortable in a place that has all the tools for him to be successful. Will that come through enough on the official to carry the Huskers?
Luke Sorensen — Nebraska's tight end recruiting has been a roller coaster. At one time it felt like the Huskers had a 10-person board and would be in a great spot for a handful of them, but as it has played out Sorensen and
Lincoln Watkins (June 20) are the only ones currently slated to visit.
Sorensen has been out to Lincoln before and loved it. He's got a good relationship with
Marcus Satterfield and Nebraska's staff. He's a strong fit as a player but also in the locker room.
But looming is a Penn State visit next week. Nebraska has to wow the Sorensens to pull this one off.
Kasen Thomas — Perhaps the most quiet of all the visitors this weekend, Thomas comes from the closest area in nearby Sioux City.
The linebacker has been on campus several times before, has a good relationship with
Rob Dvoracek and knows plenty about Nebraska football.
Still it's hard to shake that the Huskers aren't running a little behind
Cockeye State and Cockeye. Can a visit weekend in Lincoln change that?
Rex Waterman — This big lineman from Arizona earned an offer in January when Nebraska stopped by for an evaluation and then he came out to Lincoln himself to see the program for a junior day.
Waterman followed it up with a spring visit and both times he's been on campus he's raved about what he found at Nebraska.
The Huskers are right there with
Duke and UCLA for the lineman and this one feels like another where Nebraska could put itself in a pole position with a strong weekend.
Kamron Wilson — This
Syracuse commitment has known Simpson for awhile and came out to Nebraska in the spring and raved about the campus and the facilities. Then Nebraska went in-home during May to really lock in the interest and set up the official visit that is bringing Wilson back to campus and giving Nebraska a chance to pull off a flip.
The Huskers aren't alone in chasing this defensive lineman who got after the quarterback the past couple years for Miami Southridge, as besides Syracuse there's also Florida State and old friends
Tony White and
Terrance Knighton giving chase.
