Agreed. Unless I have a strong draw to a show/book I will not invest my time unless there are at least two seasons/books.

I agree to a certain extent. It was undoubtedly difficult to try to complete the story that, as you point out, GRRM is having trouble completing. The debts they have to pay off are adding up faster then they have the ability to do so.

At the same time, they fuuuuuuucked it up by making insane leaps of logic, dropping any character development, and having characters do things that were counter to the journey they were on (see: Daenerys)

Ultimately, D&D screwed up by insisting on shorter seasons towards the end. HBO was willing to pay for full seasons but D&D refused.

Disney had asked them to make a Star Wars trilogy at the time.

I think that was at least part of the rush at the end of GoT. They wanted to wrap it up so they could start working on the movies.

I read recently Disney decided not to go ahead and make the movies with them so the rush to end GoT for that part was all for nothing.

Supposed to be 2 or 3 more seasons coming. I haven't read the books, but probably should. Thought 3 Body Problem was pretty good in it's first season.

From what I understand about Shogun is it’s a part of a book series but it’s more anthological than a series.

Just started 3BP and love it so far. Two episodes in.

I know I read after the series a month or so ago that they were green-lighted for 2 or 3 more seasons. The first season obviously doesn't nearly tell the story. But maybe that changed since then and it isn't going to have more seasons, dunno. I hope they do finish out the books with 2 or 3 more seasons though.
