Assuming we make a bowl game this year, I think he intently listens to offers next offseason
I think it’ll take more than a bowl game to have anyone with a serious offer for him.

Nebraska luckily pays him damn near top dollar and a long term contract. Be hella expensive for a team to hire him away between buyout and contract commitment. He’ll need a 10+ win season to have teams that can afford it to pry him away. Maybe a 9.
6-8 wins doesn’t win them over.

Personally I was implying 9-10 wins this season, and then I believe he'll atleast listen to offers. I should have spelled that out, my bad. You're right, 6-7 changes nothing in Power 5.

I guess an easier way to say it is if we lose enough this year, then Rhule will be here for years to come, IMO.

I'll explain in my words and try not to type a novel lol

College Football Modern World: Giant stadiums, transfer portal, NIL, people coming and going, not a ton of commitment anywhere, "me" guys, lights, cameras, flashing, players opting in and out of stuff, players and coaches essentially doing whatever they want, not many rules, tampering, 30 fancy different uniform combinations. Things like that

Turd obviously acknowledged and understood where college athletics was heading, and to a degree was proceeding that way.

Nebraska is a Conservative state, and it's very clear that the powers to be are Conservative, or atleast enough of them are Conservative to matter. I think it's safe to say that the old school Conservative powers of the state probably don't buy in very well to those things listed above, and opposed "New College Football/Athletics" to a degree. I suppose the only real Conservative power of the state I can name is Jim Pillen, since I really don't know the rest of them. We know Ricketts is/was a key state player as well. We also know now what Pillen wants in a University President. 0% of that screams liberal.

A&M is already head deep in modern college football/athletics as that is very clear, and is a more prestigious national brand than Nebraska is, more respect.

So, Turd bounces to a school that lines with modern football/athletics, and can position himself for a higher seat in the next 5-8-10 years.
Appreciate you writing that out.

Agree 100% with your first two points. Turd was absolutely working to keep up with the Joneses so to speak.

Your assumption in the third paragraph is completely baseless. It’s those mystery conservative people you call out that fund all this bullshit for us to enjoy (or punch ourselves in the dick over). Pillen not wanting a purple haired they/them to run the University system has nothing to do with conservative support of the athletic department.

Rhule is going to leave, isn’t he
100% speculation here but I bet he feels like he owes the fans/history of NU 3 years, the same as Temple and Baylor. Beyond that, I think it's a crapshoot right now... My baseless speculation based on that baseless speculation:
  • 41% chance it remains a mess behind the scenes and after getting us back to respectability he understandably says "thanks for the memories, farewell"
  • 39% chance he takes it upon himself and uses the leadership vacuum to steer NU even harder into his own vision, regardless of the big wigs, and becomes a Devaney type figure for the new era
  • 19% chance he feels like Tr*v and Carter punked him and his mind is already wandering just a liiiiittle bit about this upcoming offseason
  • 1% chance the BOR and politicians get their shit figured out and make great hires that finally result in a grand unity of purpose or whatever

Honest question, I don't listen to that show, what's wrong with that kid's speech? Sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles
He does a bunch of different characters and that’s his Pete Thamel impersonation while he’s talking to Thamel. Also, he’s a Cockeye alum.

3rd paragraph is beyond my knowledge base, just interpretations and assumptions from listening to things and reading from the last 48 hours, and my very basic understanding of politics. Could be totally off. I do think there are breadcrumbs there though.

I wonder if this is kinda part of the issue though... our bullshit modern society has created this situation where, to some people/politicians, anyone with even slightly liberal views is a "purple haired they/them" who is out to destroy the very idea of bald eagles and 4th of July fireworks and football players with rock hard glutes. That's just not the case.

I think we can all agree we want them to hire a president who is going to make the football program stable and successful and rich. That person is gonna have to be found in the world of academia, and they'll have to be someone that other academics want to work for. The success of one goes hand in hand with the other in college sports, and many academics are very un-scary normal-ish boring-ass people who happen to lean liberal. At some point those big wigs are gonna have to compromise and figure out how to put overall university-wide stability (which goes hand in hand with athletics stability as we're currently seeing) above everything else.

If I had to guess… DEI/CRT/“woke” bullshit is low on the totem pole here.

I think Turd was looking at which program is better suited to benefit his career and better positioned to excel in NIL and the future landscape of college football/athletics in general.

I don't understand the she/them stuff. You want me to refer to you as she, but not her? You're okay with either feminine or non-gendered pronouns? You switch between them? And asking these questions makes you transphobic.

Ok this has nothing to do with the thread but I think asking questions about stuff like this is good haha, and not at all transphobic. It's super new to mainstream culture so I don't buy the assumption that everyone could just snap their fingers and absorb all of it. Anyway - generally if someone says they prefer "she/them" they'd be comfortable with "her" or "they" as well. It's just usually written as a two-pronoun thing for whatever reason.

I know some don’t like him so I might get told to fuck off, but he does seem to be somewhat in the know

Woah. So Turd didn't have 100% buy-in from everyone in leadership at NU for everything he wanted to do? No wonder he left!

Life truly is about getting everything you want at all times without delay or compromise. If you're not getting that, just walk out!

I feel this is all about Turd wanting to leave a legacy somewhere. It wasn't gonna happen at NU, but A&M will give him that opportunity.
