I’m not in search of a trophy buck tomorrow. The day is really about spending some time in the woods with my son.

With that said, if one should cross my path tomorrow … Imma drop it. And make the boy drag it back to the truck. 🤣
That’s the perfect reason to get out! My time hunting with my kids is priceless. Only trouble is they aren’t big enough to begin dragging them 😂

That’d be an awesome deer to take. We’ve got a few solid contenders this year. Hopefully it works out, but season doesn’t start til 10-1.

That’s a couple of studs!

Cameras have been unreal this year in terms of potential. *Going through a major property overhaul in terms of development and it’s starting to show.
3 target bucks that aren’t “big” but 2 are by age alone and the other is a 4x4 that’s over 3 yrs old.

The non targets are 4, 5x5s 125” to 150”

I know a few will disappear and there’s always the chance to gain a few over the next month or 2.

Here’s to a great season ahead! 🍻

Both very nice. What's a rough score?
Hard to tell about the one up front because it’s difficult to know how much mass he’ll lose when he sheds velvet. I’d guess about 150.
We have a 2.5 year old 12 point that is already at least 150. Can’t wait to see what he becomes.
Probably have 3-4 in the 150+ range. But hoping to draw the big fella from the neighbor’s because that fucker is an easy 180+. I shot what I believe was his son last year, and he was 140s.

Opening day of 🦌 season tomorrow. The crossbow is lubed, the bolts are loaded with lethal tips, and the gear has been de-scented and is ready to roll.

Sure hope the Huskers put the Gophers away early. That 2:00 am alarm clock is going to suuuuuuck. BIGLY.
Which crossbow did you get? If I ever move back to Nebraska that’s something I’d probably pick up.

An inexpensive Center Point. It’s rough, kicks some, but it spits bolts. I can look up the model when I get home. Responding from (someone else’s) tree stand this morning after arriving around 4:15 this morning and sitting in ground cover until about 15 minutes ago.

I gotta admit - the pack of coyotes 25 yards or so had my attention this morning. I was pretty happy to see sunlight.

My son is about 600 yards south of me and saw a doe and two fawns a while ago. Me … I’m here for the view apparently.

Getting geared up for Nebraska elk. Hope to kill one with my bow. Shot about 70 arrows today. This was my last grouping with some muscle fatigue setting in. 2 at 50 yards, 2 at 40 yards, 2 at 30 yards, and 1 at 20 yards. Oddly the one off to the right was at 30 and I felt myself push it.

Hope to be inside of 30 at a bull.

I’m a big fan of first lite gear
My son really likes it. In your honor, I was clad from head to toe in Sitka gear. I had their “defend” gear on to keep the bugs & ticks away. Expensive AF, but cheaper than treatments for Lyme Disease.

And it was hot AF out there today. Snagged 3 bags of ice to keep the deer cool while we beat feet to the processor. This oulde phart was shagged from all the walking & dragging in the heat. #NapLivesMatter

I’ve owned Sitka for years and have enjoyed it. Likely switching to ASIO GEAR sometime soon.

We’ve had several inches of rain over the past week and most bodies of water are at flood stage. I decided to fish a slow moving river that’s connected to a bunch of lakes. It’s a popular canoe trail but it also gets a ton of coho salmon.
