Outdoors thread

This seems like the safest way to PB for the next couple years.
I am pretty upset I have to miss the IL opener to be in AZ and Vegas. Won’t even get to hunt until 10/13. I’m very worried as to what my mental state will be by then. I’ll likely either be in rehab or committed to a MH facility 😢

Ugh, that’s brutal

Crossbows do not belong in the archery season unless disabled in some way that limits you from using archery equipment.

They will contribute to the quality of our herd dwindling and we already had rifle season in the middle of the rut to do that.
Not gonna argue and I understand that stance, my brother gives me shit all the time about using a crossbow. My argument is I’m dialed in to 80 yards, I also know many deer get wounded from compounds during the year, not like I’m taking pot shots at 125…..I do agree with u on the rifle season during the rut issue

I hear ya. My stance has nothing to do with distance or wounding. It’s more about how many people are hunting to just get a chance to kill another buck. Archery was once a tough season. Once they gave a guy stock & trigger with more range every Tom, Dick & Harry jumped at the chance. I say take that weapon and at the least put it in the category with muzzleloaders

I also muzzleloader hunt but I get what ur saying, we’re in agreement even though I do use a crossbow haha. I’m pretty selective and will just take a couple does if I don’t see anything big enough. Good luck this year!!

Lol well just manage for trophy bucks/healthy herd, only shoot 1 if possible. Not two unless you have the land to support it and we’ll be friends😁

Good luck to you as well!!

The whole reason archery season is as long as it is is how freaking damn hard it is. Once you bring cross-rifles into the season it takes the whole point away and it makes it too easy to kill a deer in a season that’s 3 months long.

I’ve got no issue with cross-guns, my only issue is with them being allowed in archery season. It’s already hard enough for a buck to reach 4 years old with our style of habitat and rifle season being right in the peak of the rut.

I’ve never seen it. Even as a kid I thought it was gay. (always been an alpha)

I hate to be the one to break you this news about Disney… but they have been a bunch of Libs since the beginning.

Walt Disney was a Nazi (socialist, Liberal)
Having lived in the shadow of the mouse house since the late '70s one hears interesting stories about old Walt. Of course there's the rumors about cocaine but more disturbing was his treatment of line staff. Not talent, they loved him, but the nuts and bolts people of the operation. Animators who worked for him from the very beginning upon retirement had Walt show up briefly, hand them a gold watch and leave. Not even a little thank you message.

He made a big deal about protecting the female talent like Annette, not allowing her to wear a bikini in her beach movies. As a result he had a reputation as a salt of the earth mid-western values patriot. A guy who worked with him for years whose son I worked with said it was all a marketing ploy. In real life he was cold and distant to all but family like his brother Roy but demanded absolute loyalty to the organization.

Hell of a businessman though. When Disneyland was built in the early '50s, Anaheim was a backwater. No freeways, the Santa Ana freeway came later, and everyone thought he was a fool and no one would go all the way down there. Got the land for a song and still dictates zoning and expansion to the City of Anaheim when it concerns Disneyland.
