Hartline will leave to be a HC not to be a OC at wisky
Here’s what article says about Hartline:
Coaching Stops: Ohio State (2017) Offensive quality control assistant | Ohio State (2018–2022) Wide receivers coach | Ohio State (2023 )Offensive coordinator & wide receivers coach | Ohio State (2024–present) Co-offensive coordinator & wide receivers coach
Why Hartline: This would be a home-run hire if #2ndChoice could get Hartline to join his staff. Hartline has been one of the most coveted coaches in the sport for years. His reputation as a recruiter precedes him, having produced first-round NFL talent like Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Marvin Harrison Jr.
Hartline was also a player at Ohio State when #2ndChoice was the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
He became the Buttguys’ offensive coordinator in 2023, but was effectively demoted to “co-offensive coordinator” this season after Chip Kelly joined the staff and became the play caller. If he is interested in taking full control of an offense, Columbus may not be the place.
Why Not: Besides a six-year NFL career, Hartline has spent his entire adult life either playing or coaching in Columbus.
Based on his success as a recruiter, he’s almost certainly received numerous coordinator and head coaching opportunities elsewhere.
Although, he’s shown no desire to coach at anywhere except Ohio State, except for when he hinted at a potential move to the NFL.
"I love my alma mater at Ohio State," Hartline said on the podcast ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’ in April 2023.
"My heart's in the NFL. I think one day I'd want to coach there, and that's the reality of it. When? I don't know. My in-laws are here and my wife's from Columbus; there's a big foundation that's been built here. I love coaching the receivers. When I started, I was like, 'I'll be the receivers coach for the next 15 to 20 years, leave me alone, I'm good,' but then that grows."
#2ndChoice is likely looking for a play-caller. Hartline has never filled that role. Still, #2ndChoice obviously values recruiting, and there are few better offensive recruiters in the country than Hartline.
