The immediate aftermath of the hire will be an extremely public power struggle between him and Beth Goetz. The administration will want a search and Kirk will want Seth Wallace. There is something about the state of Cockeye that many people aren't aware of. They're producing 20 to 30 Power conference level recruits per year. Cockeye is able to remain competitive because of home grown talent. I believe those kids will continue to choose Cockeye after Ferentz leaves.

Hell, just imagine what they could've been with PJ Fleck's offensive mentality. Fleck still wants to run the ball, but he also wants to throw it a lot more than Ferentz.

Wisconsin cant spiral enough for me. Ideally they fall to the depths of 2 or 3 wins a year and suffer complete irrelevancy for the next 10 years. Wisconsin and Cockeye...two programs that I've never been able to understand how/why the fans are so arrogant.

The state punches way above its weight in terms of getting players on rosters. Most of these are linemen and tight ends. You’re more likely to find a future NFL player on a random Cockeye high school football roster than most if not all US states. There’s a study that has them at #5 roughly per capita but I couldn’t find it
