Meanwhile, at Wisconsin...

Absolutely not. Say what you want but the guy is a wizard when it comes to game feel and situational awareness. Guy took Fordham's backup quarterback who weighs 300 pounds and went 10-2 in the NIL era.

The immediate aftermath of the hire will be an extremely public power struggle between him and Beth Goetz. The administration will want a search and Kirk will want Seth Wallace. If his son wasn't totally incompetent it would already have been him imo. Obviously having been around for a century he's pretty close with the boosters and its not like there are a ton of superdonors.

This is easily the best version of what their program can look like. Their fan participation, donor participation, evaluation, and development have been running around their capacity for the past 10 years or so. They've even been blessed with a great run of high school talent locally. They won't improve with a new hire. In fact it could totally implode a la wisconsin

That team went 10-2 because they had 7 NFL players starting on their defense along with the best kicker and punter duo in the country.

There is something about the state of Cockeye that many people aren't aware of. They're producing 20 to 30 Power conference level recruits per year. Cockeye is able to remain competitive because of home grown talent. I believe those kids will continue to choose Cockeye after Ferentz leaves.

Hell, just imagine what they could've been with PJ Fleck's offensive mentality. Fleck still wants to run the ball, but he also wants to throw it a lot more than Ferentz.

I do agree about the power struggle. That will occur.

Wisconsin cant spiral enough for me. Ideally they fall to the depths of 2 or 3 wins a year and suffer complete irrelevancy for the next 10 years. Wisconsin and Cockeye...two programs that I've never been able to understand how/why the fans are so arrogant.

How’s that compare to surrounding states? Cockeye may be producing more than Nebraska & the dakotas but I don’t think it’s significant unless they’re out producing Illinois, Mizzou/kansas.

I’m also curious how many are from Cockeye State or Cockeye. Both Ferentz & Campbell have shown they have a keen eye & can develop players well

The state punches way above its weight in terms of getting players on rosters. Most of these are linemen and tight ends. You’re more likely to find a future NFL player on a random Cockeye high school football roster than most if not all US states. There’s a study that has them at #5 roughly per capita but I couldn’t find it

Edit - #6 https://97x.com/Cockeye-is-one-of-the-best-states-in-america-for-producing-nfl-players/

Nebraska really high too
