You’ve mentioned his name twice now. You know something or just dream hire for you?

Not at all, just answering who'd I go after in different threads. Definitely not a dream hire, but one I prefer.

- Played in the B1G
- Coaches in the B1G
- Deep roots recruiting in B1G (footprints)

I'm out on hiring a head coach from a mid major. Collier didn't work. Sadler didn't work. Miles didn't work. We got a rebound from a power conference after a failed NBA stint, didn't work.

Give me a guy that's had a large hand in Purdue's success, with his recruiting chops within the B1G footprint, development, up close understanding how to build a roster and let's see if it works...

...Nothing else has since Danny Nee so why not!?

You can see we need more dynamic wing players. Brice has been bottled up, and beyond Gary, no one else can create their own shot. Connor is a one trick pony - 3 pt shooting - which he is good at. Worster can't do much, Sam can't do much (very good, but small, hustle defender), Connor can't create his own, Uhlis isn't creating much of anything. Short of Brice being good Brice, we don't have the wing players to hang.

Berke not being able to do much offensively hurts. Meah is a big ofe who is there to defend and board some. Morgan actually a well rounded player with a nice post game.

Goggles is weak and hasn't gotten much chance. Another wing who can't hang physically with B1G competition. Just too many guys on the wrong end of the physical/athletic aspect.

Me checking how we did:

Brantley isn’t leaving Purdue and is bringing in a guy who has never been a head coach better than hiring a mid major guy?

He'd have 3M+ reasons per year to leave Purdue. I get it with him being an alum & entrenched in WL. I believe him & Painter are the same age, and Painter ain't going anywhere.

IDK, we've went the mid major route with no success (since Nee). We've also gone the prior success major conference route and that's not working.

So I'm all in on grabbing an assistant - with success - from the current gold standard of B1G basketball.

I do not understand why interim AD Dennis Leblanc gave Fred such a long extension. That was the incoming ADs deal to figure out. Fred wasn’t a flight risk.

Defensive strat with no change up has been comical.

HS recruiting has been poor. It’s all transfers and there are two decent ones on the roster. Sam shouldn’t see a minute on a legit B1G team yet his a big contributor. Does anyone want to play for Fred? He was B1G coach of the year last year and his transfer and hs class was very meh.

I feel for Dannon. NU has had very poor ADs ever since Bill Byrne left which has caused most of the issues we’ve had in bball and fb.

You've talked me into it. Only better scenario is you pull a successful coach away from another P5 school. I'm afraid we'd just be getting people raises at their existing schools with attempting that.

I'm in on your better scenario, and that would be my top preference as well. I don't see us doing that though, especially Dannen.
