Winter Conditioning 2025

Dean O'Callahan.

***One newcomer we have heard strong reports on from winter workouts has been Georgia Southern linebacker Marques Watson-Trent. He has very much looked the part early on. Watson-Trent is a veteran body that’s come ready to play.

***Another newcomer we’ve heard has quickly lived up to the billing is freshman wide receiver Cortez Mills. From what we’ve heard already, Mills has shown right away that he’s poised to play as a freshman.

I was pretty optimistic for these two. Dean kiss of death.

Season 4 Michael GIF by The Office

We'll see how many make it to the fall.

I'm kinda missing the Chasing 3 videos. Wish we had a good follow up one to the bowl game.

Dean:

Happy Gilmore gonna be a stud.

***We continue to hear strong reports about freshman wide receiver Cortez Mills coming out of winter workouts.

Another guy I know who has looked the part has been Kentucky transfer Hardley Gilmore. I am fairly confident you will see him play quite a bit of snaps in 2025. He, Dane Key, and Nyziah Hunter are perimeter guys, with Jacory Barney operating out of the slot.

Roy Mongo:

***Speaking of Gibson Pyle, the big news for him last November was that he was arrested on suspicion of a DUI. There is an update to that, and while I have only gotten it confirmed verbally, I haven’t seen anyone else report it. That charge has been dropped against Pyle.

***A couple more current team nuggets to pass along. I asked a source which transfers had stood out so far this winter/spring. On offense, Dane Key could be very special for Nebraska’s offense. According to this source, Dasan McCullough is the real deal, and they’re very excited about his role with the defense.

***Rocco Spindler also came up, but for other reasons. Spindler is the leader Nebraska has been missing on the offensive line, the offense, and even the team. I heard Spindler has told the team that NU is more talented right now than Notre Dame was last season. That same Fighting Irish team went to the CFP Championship. Spindler believes that the Huskers have to believe in their abilities, and that is what’s going to get them over the hump.

Sumbitch. Gawwdamm choir boys can't even get a legit DUI. How we supposed to compete with the big dawgs?

I don't know what to expect with Hardley Gilmore as he's allegedly had some character and immaturity issues since high school. But his high school film is incredible. You can just tell he's a different caliber of receiver who Nebraska rarely attracts into the program. The split screen reception he takes to the house at the 31 second mark is jaw dropping:

Wasn't he only 17 when he hit the UK campus?
