Random question: I was at the game last week, missed what happened, and I haven’t had time to go back to rewatch the game. I think on the first or second TD for Nebraska, a Nebraska player got called for a personal foul penalty, what happened there?

you talkin about Mazzzooka spiking hte ball int he endzone

I don't think contract negotiations is the driving point. Houston owes him $4.5 million next year and $2.7 million the following two so money won't be an issue on a typical 3-year coordinator contract. I think he was playing coy to eliminate discussions of potential staff changes in the offseason. That will give coaches on the offensive side a chance to move on under their own terms.
I agree with this. We absolutely can’t let’s Holgs leave. That would be three different OC’s since Rhule has been here if he goes. That’s not a recipe for success and I doubt Riaola would like that.

There's still a lot of unknowns, but he also probably doesn't want to give any tells as far as things could go with contract discussions for him to stay. If he looks/sounds too excited, it could weaken his leverage position.
It could also be for more mundane HR reasons. Satt still has the job. I don't think they are allowed, as a state institution, to act like they have already selected a replacement for a job not yet open and which has not been posted for a sufficient amount of time.

Dowdell gave the ball to Bazooka and had him spike it.
I watched highlights of the OSU-Indiana game. Caleb Downs took a punt to the house and spiked it. Does anyone know if he got flagged for it? That would be on par for Big 10 refs to keep the flag in the pocket for the conference royalty.

Yeah. That and you just never want to talk in absolutes for a process that isn't completed yet. Kind of like Rhule when he said earlier "I don't know if I'll be here next year..." He's not saying he thinks there's a good chance he won't continue coaching here, he's just saying you never know what the future holds. Like Bo said, "I could end up on the moon." Bo didn't really think he was going to end up on the moon. He's just using hyperbole to say "You never know what the future holds."

Dana could be 95% sure he's going to be the OC here next year, but he's not going to treat it like a done deal until it is literally a done deal.

Personally, I just think they’re trying to keep the team hyper focused on the now and the process. No pointing in talking about the future and potential distractions. If someone like Raiola needs confirmation of the plan in place, then I’m sure that’s happening behind closed doors.

With all that said, I won’t be able to breath easy until they get it announced.

I think it's the "team celebration" part of Mazzucca spiking it which drew the flag. Not that sports are supposed to be fun

I assume that's Ethan Piper's brother? I recall him, but I don't think we recruited him. He walked-on at Cockeye.
No relation. Not even spelled the same.

I don't think we recruited him, but Cockeye did offer late if I recall. Was really undersized at the time @240.

He isn't a walk on. He was a scholarship signee at Cockeye. Kid is a really good athlete, and Huskers missed on the kid because of course Frost thought he would be better suited as a Defensive Tackle and not big enough for Nebraska's defense.

He will likely start at least two seasons at Offensive Guard for Cockeye.
