I have officially placed a wager on Nebraska +5.5
Almost sounds like Frost's WR'sListening to Holgorsen presser no wonder our offense was constantly fucking up. Said we had a huge ass playbook and WR’s playing multiple spots. He has simplified the playbook and having guys in one position.
Seems like Satt wasn't really sure what he was supposed to be doing so he took too much input instead of having an actual identity.Listening to Holgorsen presser no wonder our offense was constantly fucking up. The true air raid system is basically like 7 different passing concepts and the players have a lot of latitude to run the plays based on how the defense defend them. They just drill the shit out of them in practice.Seems like Satt wasn't really sure what he was supposed to be doing so he took too much input instead of having an actual identity.
I'm a football idiot but my understanding is lots of the best OCs run like 6 things window dressed a billion ways instead of a billion things
This is one thing I noticed on Saturday. Holgs looked like he was enjoying himself but so did the players. We actually looked like we wanted to be there instead of anywhere else for once. Raiola obviously played the best he's played in weeks and looked completely collected and in control the entire game. I wonder if the players were just too all over the place with Satt and too much playbook, resulting in incorrect routes, etc., more than complete inability to get separation and such. Which would maybe explain things like Raiola not seeing open guys bc they aren't on the same page on where they should be. Guess we'll find out on Friday.More from Washut. Plans to coach bowl game.
***Holgorsen said all he knew about his plans after Friday was that he was taking Saturday off. He didn’t want to talk about what’s next after this season yet. He wants to focus on Cockeye and the bowl game and do all he can to help Nebraska win both.
However, “I had more fun on Saturday than I’ve had in a long time… I don’t know. I ain’t gonna think about it; I ain’t gonna worry about it.” He confirmed it’s “the plan” for him to call plays in the bowl game.
makes zero sense for him not to be here next yearMore from Washut. Plans to coach bowl game.

I don't think contract negotiations is the driving point. Houston owes him $4.5 million next year and $2.7 million the following two so money won't be an issue on a typical 3-year coordinator contract. I think he was playing coy to eliminate discussions of potential staff changes in the offseason. That will give coaches on the offensive side a chance to move on under their own terms. There's still a lot of unknowns, but he also probably doesn't want to give any tells as far as things could go with contract discussions for him to stay. If he looks/sounds too excited, it could weaken his leverage position.
It seems like he wants to stay, but it also seems like he has his options somewhat open at least. One would think that Rhule will keep him, Holgs will get a sufficient contract, hopefully for at least 2 years. He is a breath of fresh air AND a great offensive mind, and one that the players seem to already like and want to play well for. Things our team needed badly from the OC position.
First off though, beat Cockeye. Then beat whoever we play in the bowl game. One would think that how Friday's game goes will be at least a small part of how some of this might play out. Maybe not a huge part, but it could be part of it.
I think Holgs stays on as OC for at least next season, but he is not going to talk about things that may effect his contract discussions here, or effect other options he may have on the table now or soon. It doesn't seem like he wants to be a HC somewhere else, but who knows for sure. Think he wants to enjoy being a successful OC is my gut instinct.
