I believe ESPN owns FPI, I'm not aware of another one
I figured you ask because I bungled it, which I did, we were 29th in 2021 not 21st
Season 7 Oops GIF by Workaholics
I was just looking at the updated ranking of 29. I didn't even audit your prior rankings.

Gonna be honest I'm surprised we moved up after Indiana
The other surprise I had was that Illinois actually dropped two spots after they beat us. That's kind of absurd
Us being 29 in 2021 with a 3-9 record is as absurd as it gets.

Colorado Moved up 24 spots to 28th too.

To bring some data into this, here is FPI

Frost
2018: 57
2019: 47
2020: 44
2021: 29
2022: 70
Avg excl 2022: 44.25
Avg w/ 2022: 49.4

Rhule
2023: 58
2024 YTD: 36
Average: 47

Unfortunately it's hard to put much faith in 4-1 as a sign of a turnaround when this is the easiest starting schedule we've had since 2016. We've beat up on 3 absolute dogshit teams and 1 thoroughly mediocre team (CU), and lost to the only reasonably quality team we've played (Illinois #42 FPI).
youre leaving the part out where we played dogshit teams with frost & never beat them

I'm not bitching, I'm happy enough about being 4-1, but any given ~40th ranked team would also be 4-1 against this schedule, and that's what we are. All available data suggests this.

Also, literally nobody here or elsewhere thought Illinois was "really good" until they beat us last week lmao
then they took penn st to the wire.

I think that game was still in the first quarter when I posted that comment. I'm not saying Illinois is a bad team - I was just pointing out that the underlying justification for Nebraska being good was circular, at the time.

Now that they've played PSU reasonably close (21-7) there is more data but I'm still not sure that game elevates them to anything above a fringe-top 25 type team, which we knew at the time.
