If Smothers isn't a clear 2 I would think Masker would be the first one in. If its any length of time I would think you'd see a Vedral/McCaffrey situation where you play Masker with series mixed in of Smothers or Haarberg running the ball. I don't think there's any chance Haarberg is playing anymore than a series here and there.

I agree with that, if Nebraska wants to even go bowling this year, Martinez is going to have to be healthy. I don’t trust our RB room at all.

Then run Smothers. The kid can fly.

If Haarberg is "the future" with his cannon for an arm, then why risk getting him hurt, too? Unless it's a season ending injury, then the Corching staff has a tough choice to make: play a "game manager" guy with limited upside vs. "the future" is now, complete with the face-palm moments that it will surely bring.

Clearly, we lack a proven workhorse in that room, but if our passing game takes a step forward, that should (conceptually) force defenses to stop stacking the box and open up some running lanes. We've got some RB's that - if they can stay healthy - are fully capable of running the ball. But man, it sure would be nice to see someone take control of that spot at "I-back U" again.
