UPDATED: Malachi Coleman

I played at Bellevue East, we had a loaded team.
Same year? You guys beat us in the playoffs. I just remember you had two pretty good RBs and you ran a weird formation on offense that we basically had no idea how to stop.

Yes sir, Matt Ohalon, Robert Rands, Justin Conley couple of other real good players. I played WR

Even if he's a douche we should still take him. He's talented, he's a hometown kid, we should take the risk and see if it pans out. Especially if Mickey is still here next year. Maybe Mickey can get him sorted out.
I'll take him with the caveat that he can't touch social media during the season. He seems like the type to air all laundry as soon as he feels slighted.

Makes me wonder where his coach is in all of this? How does he just have free reign?

Just going by news stories last season and the posts here it sounds like he was a good kid who had his 15 mins of fame go to his head, rather than a kid who is a lost cause. This stuff is Mickey’s bread and butter.

I think this kid is overplaying his hand. He thinks he's special because there isn't anybody like him in the Lincoln high school scene, but Mickey probably already knows (and is in on) at least 2 dozen guys who are better than him. The Miami coach could swing a bat and accidentally hit 7 Malachi Colemens from the Florida area. Oklahoma already has other top WRs committed.

He is a dime a dozen who doesn't know that he is a dime a dozen.

MC better button it up or he's gonna be looking at Wyoming or Colorado as his best options. And BTW.....NIL opportunities dry up if you are an asshole.

(not calling the kid bad or an asshole, but the rumors have been building for months now and soon perception will be reality)

Your NIL argument is a great one. NIL is all about selling yourself and if you have the wrong identity......

Sounds like Coach Gingery is in a tough spot. On the one hand, you can't just let him do whatever he wants without consequences; I'm pretty sure he's sat for parts of games as a result of his attitude/actions. On the other hand, you want to win games and you want to help this kid actually make it to college which requires playing him. Nobody wants to be known as the coach who tanked a kid's college career (even if it isn't an accurate portrayal).

Ging can probably count on one hand how many highly rated recruits he's had, doesn't help when the current one is an apparent prick

I mean I legit don't think there's been another 4 star from East since the inception of Rivals. There have been a few East kids who have walked on or gone FCS like Walters did, but I think Chris Walker was the only other guy from there in memory to get a scholarship offer and we saw how that turned out.

East had more good players when he was an assistant many years ago, long before all of the social media and rankings shit

Nebraska should have kept Walker at O line, I think he's a starting tackle this year at Montana

I always thought the first thing a kid coming outta high school should hear is "You might have been the best guy on your high school team, but now you're playing on a team full of guys who were the best at their HS, and you're playing against another team of guys who were the best at their HS. What are you gonna do to stand out?"

The second thing they should hear is "Never forget how hard you've worked to get where you are, and never forget for one little moment how easily it could all slip away from you."

Not all of them have to work hard to get where they are, which can lead to issues as well.

Robert Rands, now that is a name I can't sat I've heard in a while. That guy was a FREAK.
