UPDATED: Malachi Coleman

More and more I just get the vibe this kid is a yuge doosh. I'd still love to see him make plays in red, but still makes me shake my head when I see tweets like that for some reason.

From what I hear during his visits is that he doesn’t really interact a lot with the other recruits. A little stand-offish for sure.

Co-worker from Oklahoma told me they are no longer recruiting him. No idea if that is legit or not, but seems relevant with Miami cancelling his visit.

He's so fucking N

(Because we're apparently the only place that will take him)
Even if he's a douche we should still take him. He's talented, he's a hometown kid, we should take the risk and see if it pans out. Especially if Mickey is still here next year. Maybe Mickey can get him sorted out.

This has been my belief all along. We need great athletes. If they end up leaving the team because they sent revenge porn to an ex, that's just the cost of doing business

My sister works with a number of coaches and she heard the reason he missed game was not due to injury as reported but because he’s a DB / selfish and not a good teammate. Maybe word is getting out?

I keep seeing this all over the place and maybe I'm biased, but it just seems difficult for me to believe. I know his parents and they both were no-nonsense athletes that busted their tails, put in the work, and didn't have an attitude about doing so. I know that they haven't raised Malachi to be anything other than that, and I would be surprised if they would allow such behavior from him.

Some will no doubt disagree, but I prefer him at DE even though I believe he would be an excellent WR. Get him a bit bigger and he will be a monster coming off the edge.
I've been saying this for awhile. His length/speed off the edge as a pass rusher or dropping back into coverage at OLB is a nightmare for opposing OC's

I’ve heard it from a LE coach, it’s gone to his head

Not that my opinion matters but did didn't stand out at all in the game I went to. It was early in the year but I was not impressed at all. I'm sure he's a good enough kid but other than him being tall and lengthy, I didn't see a single thing that put him in the 'can't miss' category.

Has been late multiple times this year and did not agree with who they named starting QB, f-bombed the HC in front of the whole team as a result.

Also was on the Bell West sideline for a game, coaches tried to discipline him and he walked out of the meeting/practice.

I have been reluctant to post, but I spoke to a kid on the East team (senior starter) 2 weeks ago and he said something changed about Malachi since late track season and through the summer. He became distant with East teammates, became less humble, started bragging more, and shifted some friendships to NE Elite 7v7 teammates ghosting some of his friends. Didn't seem like sour grapes, but it is still a high schooler who said it.

From what I have seen thus far with Lincoln East's season and talking to a few of their players, I would pass on Malachi. He's a very individualistic player and in it for himself and no one else. Comes and goes as he pleases, doesn't huddle (ever) with the team, doesn't talk to anyone on field. Huddles consist of 10 plus him standing on the field alone or on sideline away from the huddle. I get the impression some of the Lincoln East team would rather he not be a part of their team.

I passed on something similar earlier in the season on Rivals. I heard it from two of his teammates. Daddy Coleman scans the boards and got pissed.

Attitude is currently a big issue. Doesn’t get enough chances on the ball and QB situation (which is much different from last year) hurts him. Both have hurt him.

Seems like Trey Palmer might be a good mentor for him. Mickey just said that when he came to NE Trey "grew up." Mickey and a mentor like Trey might be just what he needs.

I guess. I just am thinking back to being a football player at Lincoln East, and the d1 caliber guys that we played against always got theirs no matter what. And we never played against anyone ranked nearly as high as Coleman is.
What years at East?
