***UPDATE ***OL for 2023

I agree that's why I said, if possible, but I do have confidence in the new staff that they will be out using their connections and looking under every rock to find another Cornelius or better type guy and if they can't they are going to have to make what they have work and hopefully with being in their second year with Raiola and additional coaching help from Rhule, Foley and Satterfield they will be able to put an a least serviceable OL together for next season.

I wouldn’t hate adding another, but I just don’t think what we have is so terrible that it’s make or break. Not every coach that inherits a program that has won less than 20 games over the last 5 years inherits this much experience on the OL and is able to add a guy like Scott. If you can’t make what we have now into a serviceable unit it’s time to have some serious talks with your staff. You’re always going to be dealing with a little inexperience. This group doesn’t lack experience at all. Add all of that to your two QBs who have a combined 30+ power five starts and the offense is looking like you can make it work and work pretty well.

I think they’ll be better up front than many expect. I’m actually much more worried about the DL than I am the OL to this point and if I had to choose just one I’d take another portal DL before I took a portal OL.

next year will be his 3rd year in college, waiting 4 years to play someone is not realistic in today's college football. either they have it or they don't and it doesn't take 4 years to find out
He’s had season ending knee injuries two years in a row

He found himself fired. If we’re comparing Rhule and Frost we are in a world of trouble and threw 80m away.
No, I'm just saying shit happens and unfortunately shit has happened to this team a lot over the last 20 plus years now. So, when we start seeing some results on the field then maybe we can start setting some expectations.

Whatever happens the first season happens. It’s not like this team has good depth either. I think the talent is there to make a bowl, but it’s definitely not a given by any means.

There is simply zero reason for Rhule not to be bowl eligible next year. Not buying anything to the contrary at the moment.

So you’re saying that a new coach shouldn’t have expectations ? What are you saying here. I’m really not following.

Yes but year one doesn’t matter wins-loss wise in the big picture. Years 3-5 will tell the story with Rhule. In a perfect world Rhule makes a bowl his first season and carries the momentum into recruiting. I know you will say Nebraska is an easier job to win out of the gate than places like Temple and Baylor, but we might be the worst program in the BIG over the past 4-5 years. If we aren’t, we in the bottom 2-3 programs.

Yes, they should have expectations, but they should be realistic ones. You can't say Rhule needs to go to a bowl in his first year when Frost couldn't get to a bowl in the last 5 and then left the program in its current state. Rhule is going to need time just like Frost was giving time is all I'm saying. If they make it to a bowl next year that will be great, but I would see that as an exceeds expectations for his first year with the current state of the program.

We are nowhere near the bottom 2-3 programs in the nation and we are in much better shape roster wise than many of our Big Ten West foes.

We’ve got 7-8 OL with a ton of experience (who Rhule flat out said aren’t as bad as everyone says they are), two QBs with double digit P5 starts, added to Alante Brown, Marcus Washington, Ajay Allen, and Anthony Grant on offense.

Very few of our big ten west opponents will be able to say they’ve got that level of experience returning.

Winning six games next year is not some big accomplishment or a tall task. To do that, you’ve got to beat 3 out of conference opponents that combined for 7 wins last year (1 P5 win) and then win 3 big ten games. That’s not hard to do.

With where your IOL should be, especially if you play Cork at guard; your IZ, power, and counter should look okay. Especially if Ajay is running the football.

I’m absolutely in the camp that Rhule needs time to meet Nebraska’s expectations. Nebraska’s expectations are to be in the top ten. That’s certainly going to take time. I agree.

I don’t think he needs time to beat 3 shitty out of conference teams and 3 shitty big ten teams and go bowling. 6 wins isn’t that big of an accomplishment.

He inherited a team that should have done that in 2022. There’s no reason he should go backwards in 2023. Credit to him for adding Ben Scott as I think that makes a big difference and gives us more options to get our best 5 OL on the field.
