"Unc"- Keith Williams

TA has more clutch in his big toe than Adrian has in his entire body.
I agree

Let's look at stats though...

Career QBR: Armstrong 128.3, Martinez 139.5. Martinez's QBR average was better than Armstrong's best year
Career Comp %: Armstrong 53.3%, Martinez 63.5% - Martinez also YPA was better 8 vs 7.6
Armstrong threw 67 TDs/44 Ints in 45 games, Martinez threw 45 TD/30 Int in 39 games. That averages out to: 1.49/.98 for Armstrong, 1.15/.76 for Martinez
Rushing....Armstrong had 423 attempts for 1819 yards an average of 4.3 YPC with 23 TD, Martinez 508 for 2301 an average of 4.5 ypc with 35 TDs.

All of these stats point at Martinez being a better QB. But here's the biggest difference:
Armstrong: 9-4 (started only 9 games his frosh year), 9-4, 6-7, 9-4 in two different systems
Martinez: 4-8, 5-7, 3-5, 3-9 in the same system.

Armstrong wasn't great but played just as tough of a schedule as Martinez...only difference I see if maybe he avoided Ohio St more...
His freshman year he played a ranked UCLA team, @ Michigan, a ranked MSU team, @ Penn St and beat a ranked Georgia team in bowl.
His sophomore year Nebraska was ranked all but 2 weeks they played a ranked MSU team, Miami, @ Wisconsin, @ Cockeye and USC in a bowl
His junior year he went to Miami, played #6 MSU, #3 Cockeye
His senior year with fucking Mike Riley as a head coach went 9-4 and they played @ #11 Wisconsin, @ #6 Ohio St back to back, @ Cockeye and played #22 Oregon in the non con

Armstrong didn't have the stats like Adrian Martinez, but who would you trust more?

I mean honestly, I'd rather not have to trust either of them......but I'll take Tommy Armstrong.

Yeah I mean TA definitely had his wtf moments too. I know @slattimer was a big fan of his arm punts.

Martinez had/has physical attributes that Armstrong didn't. But even though I give Martinez props for playing with injuries, Armstrong's mentality in games was just 100x more warrior-like (sometimes too much haha). He had that will to win and lay his body on the line for every inch. Martinez had a tolerance for pain and that led to Frost and sportswriters calling him "gutsy" and "a battler" and stuff like that, but it didn't really equate to having that same type of competitive will that Armstrong had. That not only led to more wins, but it made Armstrong much more fun to root for in my opinion.
