I think Frost absolutely should have been fired, but given that wasn’t going to happen, today’s outcome is a best case scenario.
That said, this justification for keeping him - he’s a Nebraskan - is awful and is the reason why Nebraska football deserves to be bad.

I hope the next coach and/or next assistants have zero nebraska ties...none...shit isn't a pre-req for success. Only one I'd want with any Nebraska ties would be former Chadron State HC Bill O'Boyle.

Recruiting is obviously huge to any program, but honestly if you’re going to fire a head coach I believe it takes a back seat. If recruiting was ever taken into account when making that decision you’d have retained Callahan and Riley with their top 5-10 classes they were assembling in their final year.
With the transfer portal, I’m less and less worried about recruiting. That door swings both ways. On top of that, if you’re hiring a new coach he’s gonna have about two weeks before the early signing period. So if and when that happens im not even gonna follow recruiting until April which is transfer season in my opinion. That’ll be the most important month.

It's interesting that speaking the truth is labeled pouting. What's even more hilarious is that posters like you are in full on gloat mode over what is essentially our AD admitting that if it were up to him he'd have fired Frost in a heartbeat but can't because Frost is a former player. His extra year was in no other way merited. If being cognizant of that fact means "pouting" to you then my estimation of your overall intelligence being low is warranted.

If Frost flops next year, no, this isn't the best case scenario.

We don’t know if it’s really the best case scenario for the university in the end. It is financial wise with Frost’s contract, but if he has another losing season next year it puts the program further back and makes it tougher for the next coach. Time will tell.

I believe what Turd is saying with giving Scott another year and the subsequent parting of ways with the four, is that this is your last shot right? I mean, not trying to be Capt. Obvious but....Scott knows he fucked the dog on this since he's been here. When you're not held accountable to anyone for this long and pretty much given free reign to do as you please with the football program, this is the result. 3 3/4 years of Tom-Fuckery. Now Turd is here and has been an omni-present figure in all the athletic programs, especially football, he has laid down the law with Scott. Not only did he get Scott to give up (in my best Austin Powers voice) 1 MILLLLLLION dollars of salary, he also cut his buy-out in half. Basically Scott gave up over $10 Mil today just to coach here. As Turd said "skin in the game." Now it's up to Scott to actually give a fuck and start coaching again...IF HE CAN. If he can't, the buy-out is easy enough and I'm sure there will be another coach in the wings that Turd wants to hire.

Firing him this year, spending 20 million to do it, then trying your best to get a top candidate that will also have a buyout likely in the 8 figure range, was NEVER going to happen.
The AD was never going to be able to raise that type of money when we were having trouble raising money for the new facility and the university was simply never going to just eat what would probably amount to 30 million dollars before you even discuss annual salary and assistant pool for the next guy.

WHEN Frost flops, it won't just be a wasted year. You're completely fucking the next few years up for whoever takes the job next. Crootin is gonna be a shitshow for 2023 & 2024 classes just like the 2022 class was. Better hope the next guy's name is Mel Fucking Tucker if we think we can just use the transfer portal. Sweet Christ almighty.
