I’m struggling to see how it’s a better use of money to get “cheaper” guys with zero success vice spending more on a guy who has had success. Neither scenario is guaranteed to work out. We’re acting like the money being spent is part of the government budget.

I'd be mad right along with you but after this season I've finally become almost entirely fatalistic and cynical. @Poor_and_Stupid has the only approach that allows me to stay sane. Couple our own propensity to punch ourselves in the nut sack with the direction college football as a whole is heading and my ability to give any fucks is almost zero.

Then we will have to figure out if any of them are willing to gamble their future on playing in Dana’s offense of 2025, but at least that would give us a starting point.

You are creating a narrative all on your own.

I’m under no illusions that just because I want them we’ll get them. You have to go after proven guys. If you don’t, you’re appointing TJ as QB1. They may very well have made that decision. I will have very little optimism going into next season if that’s the case.

The way I see it is top QB’s go to top programs. I have no problem with swinging for the fences but in my mind I’m realistic about where we are as a program right now and what we will “probably “ get. My top two as of tonight are Minchey from Notre Dame and the kid from UNLV.

I’m probably somewhere in the middle. I’m certainly not sold on TJ and definitely think we need to bring in a proven commodity. I just think we need to be realistic about who we can get. I’d rather have someone who has had proven success at a lower school (ODU OR JMU qb for example) than some of those on here creaming about a P4 player like Kienholz or even Minchey that have upside but haven’t proven it yet.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you that we shouldn’t swing big, but as others have pointed out, I don’t think that Leavitt, Brown, or Sorsby are going to give us the time of day.

Then finally, yes I do think we need to figure out how to get a couple more bodies in the room next year of “walk on” type caliber. I’m just not sure what the approach to GET that level of athlete is, but I’m confused why that appears to be a point of contention.

You’re not creating a narrative?

There’s all kinds of back channeling and tampering going on. Why would you assume we haven’t asked around about the top guys?

Just because you’re not hearing about it in rumors doesn’t mean nobody checked.

Maybe it would make you feel better if we leaked that we tried to get the best guys only to be told to pound sand. That might not be the best posture for the program though.

I share this opinion.

IF we were that one portal QB away from being a really good football team and providing an offensive vehicle for a guy to better his draft stock, AND we’re going to spend the money…I could see a guy at the top of the list seriously considering Nebraska.

We’re not. We’re likely one top ten portal QB and portal RB away from repeating 2025’s success.

That’s not going to move the needle.
