No one wanted our bad assistants, so we were stuck with them. But we wanted to be stuck with our good assistants. Here’s what I know - we used to bitch that no one wanted our assistants. Now we bitch that people want our assistants.
This is a great problem to have. Don’t forget that
RSS hates Ron Brown. He argued about this annually on the scrolls.I mean… Ameer Abdullah and Ron Brown did okay together.
He’s been on the university pay roll for the past 2 years and was coaching running backs for the last 3 weeks of the season. If there was going to be backlash it would have already happened.
Just say “I don’t like him because I disagree with what he believes” so we can move on.

So what I think will happen:
Busch to OLB/ST
Dawson to DL
Brown to RB
I wouldn’t mind:
Busch to OLB/ST
Dawson to DL
Young dynamic recruiter from Texas or the South to coach RB
Or
Dawson stay at OLB
Busch ST
Dynamic DL recruiter
Frost and offensive staff currently in place coach RBs
I don’t mind Ron Brown, I think you need more recruiters
RSS hates everyone and everything unless their wish comes to true, then they’ll hate it after it fails. My only beef against Ron Brown was that it seemed like Ammeer and Rex had fumbling issues that he couldn’t fix. The fact the only premiere RB we’ve had since Ammeer is possibly Ozigbo is all that tells you about RB recruiting and development here at Nebraska since Brown left. Frost was smart to Held to the curb and should’ve done it quicker because honestly, the RBs have really sucked IMO.

If NU has to recycle Ron Brown for RB's coach, it shows you both the state of the program and the minimal network/influence that Frost has in the coaching community.
Not making a conclusion here. It's speculation within this long thread on us capitulating to Brown that I'm commenting on.I don’t think you can make that conclusion. I do remember when we were never going to get a P5 OC thought or Mickey Joseph too though.

I can't imagine Brown wants to coach for longer than a year anyhow.I think Ron Brown is a good RB coach who is definitely big ten caliber. So if you hire him for 12 months I don’t think it’s a bad thing.
I wouldn’t be overly upset if we went the other way either though. But we have had the “dynamic recruiter” at RB and he did a historically awful job with his room. You could at least count on Ron Brown doing well with what’s in his room.
“Stuck with” our good assistants is a hilarious way to put it.No one wanted our bad assistants, so we were stuck with them. But we wanted to be stuck with our good assistants.
Go take a swing at a few RB coaches who check all the boxes knowing that you have Brown as a fallback for a yearI can't imagine Brown wants to coach for longer than a year anyhow.
The players are familiar with him. Let him coach for a year and then if everything works out Frost can go get a young RB coach and Brown can go back to being an analyst.
