So is high school football just a total waste of time for everyone other than the super team(s)? I haven't paid attention at all in years but obviously I absolutely loved going to my school's games at the time, do students bother going to glorified beatdown scrimmages?
It seems like it goes is cycles as different teams take turns being the big cheese in Class A.

For a number of years is was Omaha North. Then Bellevue West. Most recently Omaha Westside. Now it’s currently Millard South, who seems to be taking dominance to a whole new level. Could they have the staying power (and national recruting base) to stay at the top for more than 3-4 years like all the others? Could they break the cycle and become a longer term top dog?

Fuck the current team, let’s pay 17 year olds instead..
This is one of my main gripes. Instead of paying elite guys to come in an win, that can still enter the portal 3 hours after they step foot on campus, we’re paying 17 year old kids who have absolutely 0 chance of graduating or even being in Lincoln for a minimum 3 years because the portal exists and they can do whatever they want with no penalty.

If that nugget is true, why don’t they team up at some Lincoln high school? Trae (and possibly others) are going to waste a looot of time commuting from Lincoln to Millard daily when he says he’s doing this to be around the Huskers in Lincoln more.
Why else would he be doing it? Why wouldn't he want to play in the best program in the state?

What are people under the impression that this costs NU? A year housing rental & car lease is like a rounding error in the overall budget. We could do this for a dozen players every year, and the sum total still likely wouldn't be enough to sign a single elite portal talent, even if it comes out of the revenue sharing pool (which I don't believe this does anyway).

It's a very cheap expenditure relative to everything else.

It's the principle

Current roster got paid, hence why we didn't lose guys people were pissing themselves over i.e. Barney, Hunter, Shavers, TJ, etc
We never will but I would be curious to see the numbers. How much to retain current roster and how much spent on the 26 class high school and portal. Obviously dumping a lot of money on the 27 class too.

Not saying they are over spending or under just would be interesting to see how it all breaks down.

Same. I feel like rosters are just going to keep going up like coach salaries have unless something is done.

Probably a stupid question, but something I was thinking about recently...

With revenue sharing, this is money being paid directly from the university to the athletes, similar to the coaches' salaries. Since the University of Nebraska is a public entity, shouldn't the rev share payment information be subject to Freedom of Information requests?

Complicated. You’re bringing up the question of are these kids employees or are they not?

Not sure? Since the money is “revenue” (ticket sales, TV money, concessions sales) and not directly from the tax payer(s) it may not be subject to FOIA. IDK?
