ST Coach Josh Martin leaves Nebraska

It’s true. But it also highlights the utter stupidity of not hiring a special teams coach.

Had one of the best units in the country. Couldn’t retain the coach. Decided it was fine to run the room by a committee of underlings. 1/3 of the committee decides he’d rather be at an elementary school.

Doesn’t seem like a well executed plan, but maybe we have come up with an entirely new model that will revolutionize the sport.
Yeah I don't disagree. I almost added that nothing about that makes the planned replacement idea for Ekeler good.

And now that coaching limits are gone I don't know why you wouldn't go hire a top notch guy. This ain't the NFL where the Packers never practice it because they don't think being 23rd in shit matters

probably because this would require everyone to learn a new system again. Rhuole said he loves the system and will continue to use it as long as he is coaching.

Fellas just because Argyle Liberty Christian is a K-12 school doesn't mean he's going to be teaching elementary school kids. Where do you come up with this stuff?

He's from Texas, dad was a big time Texas High School coach. Argyle Liberty Christian is a good job and a very very competitive private school program in a well to do town. I imagine he'll be making very good money to coach high school football in the state he grew up in.

The Nebraska side of this...just a bad offseason.

Can't wait for the excuses when ST's underperform next fall.

No one said he'd be teaching elementary school kids.

He did not have a contract and made $100 k as an analyst and $150K as TE coach. My guess is that he'll likely make somewhere in the 150K-200K range at the HS. So, it seems we didn't try to retain him as STC, because he would have made a lot more doing that.

Maybe the guys on campus have mastered the system at a level they can teach it, but is there not a single guy who is hireable who runs a system like Ekeler? Someone with proven results?

Liberty Christian is/was a desirable job. Witten did a great job there getting that program to a high level and won a couple state titles.

Good luck to Josh.

Do we know if Rhule is keeping the same system in place for the defense, or is the new DC using his own scheme/terminology?
